back-to-top-elfsight

Back to Top from Elfsight adds a control visitors can use to return to the top of a long Squarespace page. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, not native Squarespace code. In Elfsight's online editor, you can choose a floating or embedded button, set when it appears using a page scroll percentage, and adjust its position with pixel offsets. You can also choose a square, rounded or circular shape, set the size and font weight, and recolour the button's elements. Floating mode stays with visitors as they scroll, while embedded mode stays static where you place it. You can set it to appear across pages or exclude specific URLs.

Who it suits

This suits Squarespace sites with long pages where visitors may want a direct route back to the top. It offers a choice between a floating control and one placed within the page, along with settings for its appearance and visibility. A free plan is available to start with.

One honest caveat

The floating button follows visitors as they scroll, so set its position and pixel offsets with other floating elements in mind. The embedded version stays static in the area where you place it. On Elfsight's free tier, the widget carries Elfsight branding and has monthly view limits; paid plans remove those. The widget is hosted by Elfsight, so it stops showing if your Elfsight account lapses.

Installation

Build and customise the button in Elfsight's online editor, then copy its embed code. For an inline button, paste the code into a Squarespace Code Block. For a floating button, the Squarespace vendor instructions use site-wide Code Injection. Changes made later in the editor update automatically.

Related guide: browse more Squarespace navigation plugins, or the full Squarespace plugins hub.
