background-music-elfsight
Background Music

Background Music from Elfsight adds an audio player to a Squarespace page, where visitors can play a playlist of tracks. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, rather than native Squarespace code. In the Elfsight editor, you can add tracks by uploading files or using URLs, adjust playback settings such as autoplay, loop and shuffle, and choose whether to show the playlist. The player can use one of two layouts, a light or dark colour scheme, and a background image. You can also change its colours and choose which player elements to display, including the heading and progress bar. This gives you control over how the player looks and which playback options are available.

Who it suits

This widget may suit businesses that want to add music to a page, share a playlist or set an audio mood around their website content. It offers track uploads and URL sources, plus options to adjust the player's appearance and playback. A free plan is available to start with.

One honest caveat

Autoplay is available, but browsers may require a visitor to interact before audio can start. On mobile, playing this widget can pause other audio on the device. Free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove these. The widget is hosted by Elfsight, so it stops showing if the Elfsight account lapses.

Installation

Build the player in Elfsight's online editor by adding tracks and setting its appearance and playback options. Copy the generated embed code, then paste it into a Code Block on your Squarespace page. Later edits in the Elfsight editor update automatically, so you do not need to replace the code for each change.

Related guide: browse more Squarespace gallery and media plugins, or the full Squarespace plugins hub.
