facebook-chat-elfsight
Facebook Chat

Facebook Chat from Elfsight lets Squarespace visitors contact you through a Messenger chat bubble or chat window linked to your Facebook Page. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, not native Squarespace code. In Elfsight's editor, you can connect your Facebook Page, choose from three layouts, set where and when the chat appears, and add a welcome message. You can also adjust the bubble icon and text, and set chat header details such as a Page photo or custom image, title and caption. Visitors' messages go to Facebook Messenger, where you can reply from your Page inbox. The widget gives people a way to ask questions without looking for your contact details.

Who it suits

This widget suits Squarespace site owners who want visitors to contact them through Facebook Messenger, and who already manage a Facebook Page. It may be useful for answering product questions, helping with bookings or providing support through a familiar messaging service. A free plan is available to start with.

One honest caveat

Visitors need a Facebook or Messenger account to start a conversation, so this is not an anonymous chat option. Messages go to Facebook Messenger, and you reply from your Page inbox rather than a Squarespace messaging tool. The free tier carries Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove those. The widget is hosted by Elfsight, so it stops showing if your Elfsight account lapses.

Installation

Build and customise the widget in Elfsight's online editor, connect your Facebook Page, then copy the embed code. In Squarespace, add a Code Block where you want the chat to appear and paste in the code. Later changes made in the editor update automatically.

Related guide: browse more Squarespace marketing plugins, or the full Squarespace plugins hub.
