visitor-counter-elfsight
Visitor Counter

Visitor Counter from Elfsight displays visitor numbers or page views on a Squarespace page, with figures for a selected time period and an interactive graph for viewing trends. It can help make website activity visible to visitors. This is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, not native Squarespace code. You build and customise it in Elfsight's online editor. The editor lets you choose the metric and time range, set a starting value, select a layout, and adjust the widget's size, colour scheme, font size and weight. Only one metric, visitors or page views, can be displayed in each widget. Once installed, later editor changes update automatically.

Who it suits

This counter may suit a business or organisation that wants to show visitors a selected measure of site activity, or display traffic trends in a graph. It also gives site owners a way to present a manually adjusted starting figure alongside current statistics. A free plan is available to start with.

One honest caveat

Each widget can show either visitor counts or page views, not both at once. The counter also depends on Elfsight's hosted service, so it will stop showing if the Elfsight account lapses. Widgets on the free tier carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove those. Consider whether those limits and the single-metric display suit how you plan to use the counter.

Installation

Choose a template and configure the metric, time period, layout and style in Elfsight's online editor. Copy the generated embed code and paste it into a Squarespace Code Block where you want the counter to appear. Save the page to display it. Later edits in the Elfsight editor update automatically.

Related guide: browse more Squarespace utility and developer plugins, or the full Squarespace plugins hub.
