Acuity Scheduling: Squarespace's Native Booking Tool

Acuity Scheduling is Squarespace’s own appointment and class booking tool.

Acuity Scheduling: Squarespace's Native Booking Tool logo

Acuity Scheduling is Squarespace’s own appointment and class booking tool. Clients book themselves online, pay at the time of booking, and fill in intake forms, while you keep your calendar, reminders, and payments in one place. This page is a plain-English rundown of what it is, what it does, what it costs, and who it suits.

Best for: Squarespace service businesses, coaches, studios, salons, and clinics that need deeper booking than a simple meeting link.

What it is

Acuity is a complete online scheduling solution, and it is owned by Squarespace (acquired in 2019). For a few years it was offered to Squarespace users as "Squarespace Scheduling," but the two are now united under the Acuity name, so if you have seen either name, it is the same product with the same features. You get a standalone booking page clients can visit, and you can embed the scheduler directly on your Squarespace site with no code using the Scheduling block. It also embeds on non-Squarespace sites, but being native to Squarespace is its big advantage here.

The natural comparison is Acuity versus Calendly. Calendly is lighter and faster to set up for simple one-to-one meetings; Acuity is the deeper tool, built for classes, packages, payments, and intake, and it is the obvious choice if you are already in the Squarespace ecosystem.

For a full walkthrough of setting it up on a Squarespace site, see How to Use Acuity Scheduling with Squarespace.

What it does

Acuity goes well beyond booking a single meeting type. Key features include:

  • Client self-booking for appointments, group classes, and virtual or in-person sessions, with daily booking limits, scheduling rules, and automatic time zone detection.
  • Calendar sync with Google, Outlook, Office 365, and iCloud, so availability stays accurate.
  • Automated reminders: confirmation, reminder, cancellation, and follow-up emails on every plan, plus SMS text reminders on higher tiers to cut no-shows.
  • Intake forms to collect client details, your terms and conditions, and a cancellation policy before a session, included on all plans.
  • Payments at booking through Stripe, Square, or PayPal, including deposits, tips, and invoices.
  • Packages, subscriptions, memberships, and gift certificates for recurring services and bulk bookings.
  • Group classes and registration with size limits and attendee information capture.
  • Multiple staff, calendars, and locations, plus a mobile admin app on every plan to manage bookings on the go.

Pricing

Acuity uses flat-rate pricing (not per user), and the main difference between tiers is how many bookable calendars you get. There is no free plan, only a 7-day free trial on every tier, and annual billing saves around 20 percent. As a rough guide (prices checked October 2026; check the Acuity site for current figures):

  • Starter: around $16 per month (annual), or $20 monthly. One calendar, email reminders, and core booking and payments. Suits a solo operator.
  • Standard: around $27 per month (annual), or $34 monthly. Up to six calendars, plus SMS text reminders, an appointment waitlist, memberships, packages, and gift certificates.
  • Premium: around $55 per month (annual), or $69 monthly. Up to 36 calendars, HIPAA compliance via a signed agreement, removal of Acuity branding, multiple time zones per staff or location, and API and custom CSS.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing for unlimited calendars, a dedicated account manager, and additional APIs.

One thing to budget for: payment processing fees are charged separately by Stripe, Square, or PayPal, not by Acuity. There are no setup, cancellation, or support fees.

Who it is for

Acuity is a strong fit for US-based Squarespace service businesses that need real booking depth: coaches, salons and spas, fitness studios, multi-staff or multi-location practices, and healthcare providers (HIPAA is available on Premium). If you already use Squarespace and need more than Calendly’s simple one-to-one links, the native embed and the class, package, and payment tools make it the natural pick. It is a weaker fit in a few cases worth being honest about: there is no built-in video, so virtual sessions need a separate Zoom or Google Meet; there is no free plan, only the trial; and Acuity runs on US servers, which is a data-residency consideration if many of your clients are in the EU.

Our verdict

For a Squarespace service business, Acuity is the most capable booking engine you can add, and being a Squarespace product means it embeds cleanly with no code and feels part of the same ecosystem. It is deeper than Calendly on the things service businesses actually need: classes, packages, memberships, deposits, and intake forms. The honest trade-offs are that it starts paid (no free tier), it leans on a separate tool for video, and HIPAA sits on the top plan. If you run appointments or classes on Squarespace and want one tool to handle booking, payment, and client intake, Acuity is hard to beat.

Frequently asked questions

Is Acuity the same as Squarespace Scheduling?
Yes. Squarespace acquired Acuity in 2019 and offered it for a while as Squarespace Scheduling. The two are now united under the Acuity name, with the same product, pricing, and features.

Does Acuity work with Squarespace?
Yes, it is a Squarespace product. You can embed the scheduler on your Squarespace site with no code using the Scheduling block, or share the standalone booking page. It also embeds on non-Squarespace sites.

Is there a free version of Acuity?
No. Acuity offers a 7-day free trial on every plan, but there is no permanent free tier. This is a difference from Calendly, which has a free plan.

Can I take payments and run classes with Acuity?
Yes. You can accept payment at booking through Stripe, Square, or PayPal, including deposits, packages, subscriptions, and gift certificates, and you can run group classes with registration and size limits.

How is Acuity priced?
Flat-rate, not per user, across three plans from around $16 to $55 per month on annual billing, with the number of calendars the main difference, plus a custom Enterprise tier. Payment processor fees are charged separately.
