Overview

Common Ninja's Carousel Grid places several independent image carousels side by side in one grid, each with its own title, description and set of images. It is a tidy way to show product lines, project categories or team groups on a Squarespace page without one very long gallery. Every image can carry a caption, alt text and a link, and images can open in a popup for a closer look.

What you get

  • A grid of independent carousels, each with its own images, title and description
  • Columns and spacing set separately for desktop, tablet and mobile
  • Captions, alt text and a link on every image, with bulk upload
  • Five carousel layouts, seven arrow shapes and dot, circle, square or thumbnail pagination
  • Auto transition with adjustable speed, random order and image popups
  • Fonts, colours, corner radius and spacing controls, plus custom CSS

Who it suits

Sites with several collections to show at once: retailers with product ranges, architects and designers grouping projects by type, venues showing different spaces, or agencies presenting work by client. It is less useful if you only have one set of images, where a normal carousel or gallery does the job.

Honest limits

  • Several moving carousels on one page can feel busy, so we would leave auto transition off unless the grid is small.
  • It is an externally hosted embed, so it loads from Common Ninja's servers rather than from Squarespace.
  • The free plan has monthly view limits; once a busy page passes the cap the widget can stop showing until you upgrade or the month resets.
  • You need a Squarespace plan that lets you add code blocks.

How it is delivered

Sign up for a free Common Ninja account, build the widget in their visual editor, then copy the embed code from the Add to Website tab and paste it into a Squarespace code block. There is nothing to install on Squarespace itself and no files to download. The free plan is ongoing; paid Common Ninja plans are billed by Common Ninja and raise view limits and unlock extra features.

Setup follows the usual Common Ninja routine: build it in their visual editor, paste one line of embed code into a Squarespace code block, and any later edits update on your site automatically. A free plan is available, with paid tiers for higher view limits and extra features.

FAQs

FAQs

What does the Carousel Grid widget do?
It displays several image carousels together in one grid. Each carousel has its own images, title and description and moves independently.
How do I add it to Squarespace?
Build it in Common Ninja's editor, then paste one line of embed code into a Squarespace code block. Later edits in the Common Ninja dashboard update on your site automatically.
Is it free?
There is a free plan with monthly view limits. Paid tiers raise the view limits and unlock extra features, so check Common Ninja's pricing page before using it on a busy page.
Can images link to other pages?
Yes. Every image can have a link, a caption and alt text, so a carousel can send visitors to products, articles or portfolio pages.
Can I change the number of columns on mobile?
Yes. Column count and spacing are set separately for desktop, tablet and mobile, so a three-column grid can become a single column on a phone.
Can visitors see images larger?
Yes. You can turn on image popups so an image opens in a larger view on the same page.
