Overview
Comments from Elfsight adds a discussion area to a Squarespace page, where visitors can post as guests or sign in with Google or Facebook. Replies can be grouped into threads, with mentions, emoji reactions and like or dislike votes. This is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, not native Squarespace code. Build it in Elfsight's online editor by choosing a template, then setting options such as moderation rules, reactions, sorting and design. You can choose a default order based on newest comments or popularity. Edits made in the Elfsight editor update automatically. The widget also includes SEO-friendly markup and tools for admins to manage comments.
Who it suits
This suits Squarespace site owners who want visitors to discuss blog posts, pages or shared interests, with options for guest participation and social sign-in. It may also suit teams that need admin moderation or want threaded replies and reactions. A free plan is available to start with.
One honest caveat
Comments are hosted through Elfsight, so they are not a native Squarespace feature. Users can edit or delete their own comments, but deleted comments cannot be restored. The free tier includes Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove those. The widget stops showing if the Elfsight account lapses, so its display depends on keeping that account active.
Installation
Choose a template and configure the widget in Elfsight's online editor. When it is ready, copy the embed code and paste it into a Squarespace Code Block where you want the comments to appear. Later changes made in the Elfsight editor update automatically on the page.

Visitors can react with emojis, like or dislike comments, and share individual comments. The widget owner can set the default comment order to show the newest comments first or sort by popularity. The layout is described as adaptive for different devices, and the interface is localised into over 70 languages.
Admins can manage comments through the widget dashboard, including editing or deleting comments. They can also restore comments they have removed and manually mark unwanted comments as spam. Users can edit or delete their own comments, but deleted comments cannot be restored. Elfsight also lists email alerts for new comments or replies, with digest options described as upcoming.
The widget uses SEO-friendly markup, including Schema.org markup for comments. It is built in Elfsight's online editor and embedded in Squarespace, rather than being native Squarespace code. Changes made later in the editor update automatically. The free plan includes Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove those limits and branding. The widget stops showing if the Elfsight account lapses.
