Overview

Google Maps from Elfsight adds an interactive map to a Squarespace page, with markers for your locations, contact details and route directions. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, not native Squarespace code. You build it in Elfsight's online editor, where you can add locations, choose map layers and controls, adjust the size, and customise the map's colours. Location cards can show details such as an address, phone number, opening hours, website link, image and description. Visitors can browse locations in a side panel and use route search on the page. Paste the embed code into a Squarespace Code Block to display it, and later editor changes update automatically.

Who it suits

This suits Squarespace businesses with several branches, shops or other places that visitors need to find. It can also help a single-location business show its address, contact details and directions on a page. You can start with the free plan.

One honest caveat

You need to connect your own Google Maps API key, with billing enabled in your Google account. Visitors can open directions in Google Maps, so route use is not contained entirely within your page. The free tier carries Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove those. The widget is hosted by Elfsight, so it stops showing if your Elfsight account lapses.

Installation

Create and customise the map in Elfsight's online editor, then copy the embed code it generates. In Squarespace, add a Code Block where you want the map to appear and paste in the code. Changes you later make in the Elfsight editor update automatically on the page.

Elfsight Google Maps lets you place one or more locations on an interactive map. You can add a location using its address or place name, or enter coordinates. The vendor says the widget supports unlimited markers and offers a library of more than 50 marker icon types. Visitors can also view your locations together in a side panel.

Each marker can have an information card with details such as an address, phone number, email, website link, opening hours, image and short description. You can organise locations into categories and enable filtering or clustering. A built-in search field lets visitors look for a location by name or address.

Visitors can request a route from their current location to a marker. The widget's automatic route search displays the route on the page, and visitors can open directions in Google Maps. Map settings include five listed layers: POI, Traffic, Transit, Bike and Street View. You can also adjust the map type, controls and size. The widget is mobile optimised and adapts its layout to different proportions.

For visual customisation, Elfsight provides four colour schemes and lets you change the colour of 23 map elements. The widget is built in Elfsight's online editor and embedded in Squarespace with its code. It is not native Squarespace code, and it requires your own Google Maps API key with billing enabled. Elfsight offers a free plan, subject to branding and monthly view limits.
