- External live values require a JSON endpoint
- The widget is hosted on Elfsight, not native Squarespace code
- The free plan has branding and monthly view limits
Overview
Number Counter from Elfsight lets you display key figures on a Squarespace page, such as business achievements, team size or fundraising totals. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, rather than native Squarespace code. You build and customise it in Elfsight's online editor, where you can set counter values and number formatting, add titles, prefixes, postfixes, icons and links, and arrange counters in columns. The editor also offers controls for spacing, width, mobile display, fonts and colours. You can paste the embed code into a Squarespace Code Block, and later edits made in the Elfsight editor update automatically on your site.
Who it suits
This suits businesses and professionals who want to present achievements or useful figures at a glance, as well as teams sharing product ranges or charities showing fundraising figures. You can add explanatory titles, icons or links alongside the numbers. A free plan is available to start with.
One honest caveat
This is a hosted widget, so it depends on your Elfsight account and is not native Squarespace code. To fetch live values from another source, you need to provide a JSON endpoint through the External URL option. Widgets on Elfsight's free plan carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove those. If your Elfsight account lapses, the widget stops showing on your site.
Installation
Build and configure the counter in Elfsight's online editor, then copy its embed code. In Squarespace, paste that code into a Code Block where you want the counter to appear. You can make later changes in the Elfsight editor, and they update automatically without replacing the code.

Set up counters with prefixes or postfixes, choose a number format, and add an icon from Elfsight's library or upload your own. Counters can include clickable links to a landing page or social profile. The vendor says you can create any amount of counters and organise them into any amount of columns.
Adjust the display in the editor by setting the space between counters and choosing a width or the auto option. You can work with the mobile display, change font size and weight, recolour elements and choose a background image. The editor also includes an animation style option.
For values that should come from an external source, Elfsight offers an External URL option using a JSON endpoint. The vendor also says you can provide a startValue in JSON, and that the widget includes a language-control feature that automatically translates templates based on the selected language context.
The widget is hosted on Elfsight's platform and added to Squarespace with an embed code in a Code Block. Make changes to the widget in Elfsight's editor, where those edits update automatically on the site. Check the free plan's branding and monthly view limits when deciding whether it suits your use.
