Overview

Social Media Icons from Elfsight adds a set of clickable social icons to a Squarespace page, linking visitors straight to your public profile URLs on Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and messaging apps. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, not native Squarespace code, so you build it in Elfsight's online editor and paste the embed code into your site. In the editor you can add unlimited icons from a library of more than 50 platforms, reorder them, and enable or disable individual ones. Layout options include inline, for a header, footer or content block, and floating, which follows the page scroll. You can also set icon size, shape, padding and border radius, arrange icons horizontally, vertically or in a grid, pick one of five predefined styles, change icon, background and hover colours, and set a hover animation.

Who it suits

This suits Squarespace site owners who want visitors to find their social profiles without hunting, including small businesses, agencies, creators and community groups. It works well for anyone who wants icons in a footer or header, or a floating bar that stays visible while people scroll, and who would rather not write code. A free plan is available to start with.

One honest caveat

Two limits are worth knowing. The icons are links to your public profile URLs, so there are no API connections, logins or live feeds: no follower counts or recent posts. The floating layout is a site-wide element, so it goes into Code Injection rather than a page Code Block. As with all Elfsight widgets, free-tier versions carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits, paid plans remove those, and the widget stops showing if your Elfsight account lapses.

Installation

Build the widget in Elfsight's online editor: choose a template, add your platforms, adjust layout, colours and hover effects, then copy the generated embed code. For inline icons, paste it into a Code Block in the Squarespace page editor. For a floating bar, paste it into Settings, then Advanced, then Code Injection, before the closing body tag.

Social Media Icons is an Elfsight widget that puts clickable social icons on your Squarespace site. Each icon links to a public profile URL you supply, so visitors can reach your Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn or messaging accounts in one click. There are no API keys or authorisations involved, which keeps setup quick and reliable. The widget is hosted on Elfsight's platform and embedded in your site, so it is not native Squarespace code. You build it in Elfsight's editor and paste the embed code into Squarespace.

Content is straightforward. You can add unlimited icons from a library of more than 50 platforms, enable or disable individual ones so only the networks you actually use appear, and reorder them to prioritise the channels that matter most. Icons can be arranged horizontally, vertically or in a grid, which makes them easy to fit into navigation bars, sidebars, headers, footers or standalone sections.

Layout options cover two main approaches. Inline placement puts the icons in the content area, which suits a header, footer or page section. Floating placement keeps a bar fixed at the screen edge so the links stay visible as visitors scroll. You can change icon size in a click, and control shape, padding and border radius.

Styling is handled in the same editor. There are five predefined styles to start from, and you can change the colours of the icons, the background and the hover effect, set the border radius, and choose the animation that appears on hover. The Squarespace page also notes that you can upload your own icons if you want something more specific to your brand.

Setup takes a few steps: pick a template, add your platforms, customise the design, then copy the embed code. Inline icons go into a Code Block in the page editor. Floating icons go into Code Injection so they load site-wide. Later edits in the Elfsight editor update the widget automatically.

FAQs

FAQs

What does the Elfsight Social Media Icons widget do on a Squarespace site?
It displays clickable social icons that link visitors to your public profile URLs, so people can reach your Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn or messaging accounts in one click. You choose the platforms, order, layout and styling in Elfsight's editor.
Is this native Squarespace code?
No. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform. You build it in Elfsight's online editor and paste the generated embed code into your Squarespace site, either in a Code Block or, for the floating layout, in Code Injection.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, you can create the widget for free with no credit card needed. Free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits. Paid plans remove those, and the widget stops showing if your Elfsight account lapses.
Can I remove the widget later?
Yes. Because it is added through an embed code, removing that code from the Code Block or Code Injection area takes the widget off the site. You can also delete the widget from your Elfsight account.
Which social networks can I show?
More than 50 popular platforms are supported, including Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok and major messaging apps. You can enable or disable individual icons so only the networks you actively use appear.
Do I need API keys or logins to connect my social networks?
No. No API connections or authorisations are required. The icons simply link to your public profile URLs, which keeps setup fast and avoids technical steps.
