Overview

Subscription Form from Elfsight lets visitors sign up to receive newsletters, offers and updates through a form on your Squarespace page. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, not native Squarespace code. In Elfsight's online editor, you can add a heading and caption, choose whether to ask for first name, last name and email, and edit the label and placeholder. You can also choose what happens after submission: show a success message, hide the form or redirect visitors to a URL. Four layouts are listed: Embedded, Popup, Pane and Side-in. The editor also lets you select a colour scheme or adjust parts of the design individually.

Who it suits

This form suits Squarespace site owners who want to collect email addresses for newsletters, offers or updates. It can also suit businesses that use Mailchimp to manage subscribers, or want to download collected email addresses as a CSV file. A free plan is available to start with.

One honest caveat

The listed layouts are limited to four, and the stated email-service connection is Mailchimp. Collected email addresses can be downloaded as a CSV file. On Elfsight's free tier, widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove those. The widget is hosted by Elfsight, so it stops showing on your site if your Elfsight account lapses.

Installation

Build and configure the form in Elfsight's online editor, then copy its embed code. In Squarespace, paste the code into a Code Block on the page where you want the form to appear. Later edits made in Elfsight's editor update automatically on your site.

Use the form to collect email addresses from visitors who want to hear from your business. You can add a heading and caption, request first name, last name and email, or keep the form to an email field. An explanatory label and placeholder can also be added. Collected addresses can be downloaded in CSV format.

Choose from four layouts: Embedded, Popup, Pane and Side-in. The vendor describes Embedded as fitting into a page's content, Popup as appearing as visitors explore the site, Pane as sitting on the left or right, and Side-in as appearing in a corner. You can choose which pages display the form.

The editor includes a colour scheme generator. Select a primary colour and a light or dark mode, or adjust individual parts such as the popup, header and background. Changes can be previewed in the editor without programming.

After a visitor submits the form, you can show a success message, hide the form or redirect the visitor to a URL. The form can connect to Mailchimp, with subscriber details collected in your Mailchimp account. Elfsight's page also says email addresses can be downloaded as a CSV file.

This is an Elfsight-hosted widget rather than native Squarespace code. Build it in Elfsight's editor and add it to your Squarespace page with its embed code. Edits made in the editor update automatically. The free plan has Elfsight branding and monthly view limits, and the widget stops showing if the Elfsight account lapses.
