- Visitors need an active Viber account to message you
- Mobile and desktop conversations open through Viber
- Free-tier widgets include branding and monthly view limits
Overview
Viber Chat from Elfsight lets visitors start a direct conversation with your business through Viber from a Squarespace page. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, rather than native Squarespace code. In Elfsight's editor, you can choose a chat bubble icon, edit its text, set a welcome message and customise the chat header, including its name, picture and caption. The widget can be set to appear on specific pages or for certain audience categories, with display triggers such as a time delay, scrolling or exit intent. You can also choose a floating or inline layout and edit the Start Chat button text.
Who it suits
This widget may suit businesses that already use Viber to answer customer questions, provide support or discuss bookings and orders. It gives visitors a way to reach you through a familiar messaging app, provided they have an active Viber account. A free plan is available to start with.
One honest caveat
Visitors need an active Viber account to start a conversation. On phones, the conversation opens in the Viber app; on desktop, visitors are redirected to Viber Desktop if it is installed. This is an Elfsight-hosted embed, not native Squarespace code. Free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits; paid plans remove those. The widget stops showing if your Elfsight account lapses.
Installation
Build and customise the widget in Elfsight's online editor, then copy the generated embed code. In Squarespace, paste it into a Code Block where you want the chat to appear. Later edits made in the Elfsight editor update automatically, so you do not need to replace the code for each change.

You can choose a chat bubble icon, edit its text and set a welcome message to explain what happens when someone clicks. The editor also lets you customise the chat header with a picture, name and caption, and change the text on the Start Chat button. These settings help make the contact option clear to visitors before they open a conversation.
The widget can be set to appear on specific pages and for selected audience categories. Display triggers listed by Elfsight include a time delay, scroll position, time spent on a page and exit intent. You can choose a floating display above page content or place the chat inline within a page section.
To add it, configure the widget in Elfsight's editor and paste its embed code into a Squarespace Code Block. Changes made later in the editor update automatically. Elfsight offers a free plan, although free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits. Paid plans remove those limits and branding. The widget stops showing if the Elfsight account lapses.
