Video Lightbox from BeyondSpace opens videos in an overlay on top of a Squarespace page instead of sending the visitor away or embedding a bulky player inline. It supports YouTube, Vimeo, Squarespace-hosted video (delivered as HLS) and custom video files uploaded through the link manager. It works by turning ordinary links, buttons and gallery clickthrough links into lightbox triggers using what BeyondSpace call video lightboxify URLs, so you do not need to touch a code block for each video once the plugin is installed.
What it does
Any link or gallery slide can become a video trigger, and Squarespace 7.1 gallery sections are supported out of the box, along with gallery blocks, auto layouts and product pages. Playback options such as autoplay and start time are controlled through parameters on the video URL. Zoomable images can sit alongside videos in the same lightbox gallery, so a portfolio can mix stills and film. On product pages it can replace static product images, or turn links and buttons in the additional info area into a video popup. The player reads the aspect ratio of your thumbnail and sizes itself to match, and videos can also play inline within a gallery rather than in the overlay, which is a tidy replacement for animated GIFs.
Who it suits
Videographers, wedding and event filmmakers, agencies with showreels, musicians and any business that wants a "watch the film" button on a page without the page becoming a wall of embedded players. It is also a neat way to make a gallery of thumbnails open videos rather than images, and shops that have product videos will get good use out of the product page options.
Considerations
This is a feature module of BeyondSpace's larger Lightbox Studio plugin rather than a separate codebase, so read the vendor page to understand what you are buying and whether the full Lightbox Studio would serve you better. The lightbox loads the video from YouTube, Vimeo or your host at click time, so slow or heavy videos still buffer; it does not make them lighter. Custom code needs a Squarespace Business plan or higher, and as with any injected code, a Squarespace update could require a plugin update from BeyondSpace.
Installation
The plugin is supplied as code you add to your site following BeyondSpace's instructions. You then point the links or gallery items you want to open in the lightbox at the video lightboxify URLs they describe. Setup is quick for a single button and takes a little longer if you are converting a whole gallery.

What it covers
The Template Shop Business is less a course than a look inside Applet Studio's operation. Olga has sold more than 2,000 Squarespace templates over five years, around 30 a month, and instead of recording another curriculum she has packaged her internal Notion knowledge base (SOPs, checklists, email templates, trackers) with a video training on what makes a template a best-seller.
The knowledge base runs through the template creation process (research examples, wireframes, a best-selling template checklist, a development checklist), packaging a template for sale (documentation, licence, device mockups, shop graphics in Figma), the transfer process and email templates, the product suite and checkout, organic marketing on Instagram, Pinterest and a blog, seasonal sales and promotions, Meta ads, email marketing with Flodesk, analytics, an email vault for support questions and refunds, automations, and the full tech stack with a business expenses tracker. There is a bonus section on Shopify, Showit, Wix and Webflow, and Olga estimates about 70 per cent of the material applies to any template business.
Who it is for
Established web designers who already know how to design and want a product revenue stream. The page says plainly that it is not for people who are not web designers, not for anyone expecting passive income, and it teaches business rather than design. The old listing here called it ideal for aspiring freelancers, which is the opposite of what the vendor says.
Format and access
Immediate access to the video training and the Notion portal, with chat support, one to one template feedback and recordings of previous mastermind sessions. Applet Studio has run live mastermind cohorts alongside the material and mentions a new cohort on the sales page, so check the current status before buying if the live element matters to you. The purchase is non-refundable and a payment plan is available.
Where it falls short
A knowledge base is only useful if you read it, and this is a lot of reading. The material is Applet Studio's way of working, so you will be adapting someone else's Notion setup, Flodesk sequences and Meta ads structure rather than following a beginner's path. Chat support is time limited (three months at the time I read the page). If you want a step by step launch plan with a community, Kate Scott's Scale with Templates is the closer fit; this one is for people who want to see the machinery.

Madeline is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Olíve Skye Creative, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for interior designers, architects and creative studios. The demo is a Miami interior design studio: a purpose-and-care statement hero, a custom-approach section, a featured-projects grid, a get-to-know-the-founder block and a partner-with-us footer with newsletter sign-up, with a six-project Projects page, a Services page (discovery, design development, project management, installation and styling, plus interior design, project management and home staging offers, testimonials and FAQ accordions), an About page with a three-person team and studio values, a Gallery page, a Featured press page, an Inquire page with a project enquiry form, an Individual Project template page and a Testimonials page. The old listing had the audience right but counted four pages and missed the services process, press, gallery and enquiry form. What you get
Nine page layouts: Home, Projects, Services, About, Gallery, Featured, Inquire, Individual Project and Testimonials, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
A Services page with a four-step process, three service offers, testimonials and FAQ accordions, and an Individual Project page you duplicate per job
A Featured page for press logos and features, a lightbox Gallery page and a project enquiry form on Inquire
Thirty-four featured sections (hero, intro, backgrounds, portfolio, services, reviews, faq, about, gallery, contact) to reuse on any page
SquareKicker animations: desktop overlay menu, smooth scroll, scroll effects, sticky block, magnetic motion, fixed scrolling, section slider, sticky section, anchor links and sticky split, editable while the extension is active
A cream, navy, slate blue and grey palette that changes in the Squarespace style editor
A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial
Who it suitsInterior designers, architecture practices, home stagers and design studios with a body of finished projects, press to show and a process to explain. The restrained type and long-scroll layouts also suit a landscape designer or a high-end builder.Honest limitsProjects are hand-built pages rather than a filterable portfolio collection, so each new job means duplicating the Individual Project page. There is no blog in the demo and no shop. The enquiry form emails you; there is no scheduling without embedding Acuity or Calendly. This template leans on ten SquareKicker animation presets, more than most, so the feel depends on the extension: the effects stay in place after the 30-day trial but need a subscription to keep editing, and it is worth checking them on a mid-range phone. How it is deliveredSquareKicker templates install through the SquareKicker Template Engine onto a new or existing Squarespace 7.1 site: connect the free SquareKicker extension, pick the template and it installs in a few clicks, with the choice of keeping your existing site styles or replacing them with the template's. There is no duplicate site to copy from. The purchase is one-off and includes a 30-day SquareKicker extension trial; you need a Squarespace Core plan or higher to publish, and SquareKicker template buyers get 10 per cent off a Squarespace plan.Related guide: compare it with the other studio sites in our Squarespace templates for interior designers collection, or browse the Squarespace templates hub.
Reach is a Squarespace 7.1 Fluid Engine template from Happenstance Design Co., described by the designer as a sleek template for budding nonprofits and service-based businesses. It is built around landing page style layouts with clear calls to action, and it ships with a custom Squarespace training course so the person editing the site does not need prior experience.Who it suitsNew and growing nonprofits, appeal and campaign microsites, and service organisations whose website has to look legitimate to funders, board members and partners. The training course is the practical reason we would put Reach in front of a small team: it is often a volunteer or the founder who ends up maintaining the site, and Happenstance have planned for that. The password-protected page is a sensible touch for a board or staff portal. One honest caveatThe tone is marketing-led and can feel commercial for a community charity; the demo reads more like an agency than a grassroots organisation. There is a donate page, but no events collection, so if you run a regular programme of events you will add Squarespace's events page yourself. As with every template here, donations use Squarespace's donation block on a Business plan or higher. What is includedEleven custom-designed pages and three blog post templates: Home, About (Team), Services, Impact, Resources, News, Hiring (job postings), Donate, a password-protected client or board portal, Contact and a content-not-found page. Fonts, colours, images and graphics are all editable in the Squarespace editor with no code. Happenstance include a pre-launch checklist and the full training course.
What it covers
Squarespace CSS Mastery is a coding course, not a web design course. The old listing here described it as a class on building Squarespace sites from scratch, which is wrong: it teaches CSS from the ground up using Squarespace as the example platform. Roman, Applet Studio's co-founder and a full stack developer, is the instructor.
The curriculum starts with how HTML and CSS fit together, then goes deep on CSS: the cascade, selectors, responsive techniques and recorded coding sessions applying styles to real elements. A Squarespace-specific section covers where custom CSS lives and how the platform's blocks behave, followed by practical work with the Chrome inspector. The stated outcomes are the things that actually come up in client work: custom typography, fonts, colours and gradients, small animations on standard blocks, and fixing tablet and mobile layouts in Fluid Engine. You also get a library of Squarespace CSS snippets with explanations. A 2025 update added a lecture and hands-on session on using ChatGPT to write, edit and debug CSS, with the emphasis on how to phrase the prompt so the code actually works when pasted in.
Who it is for
Designers who copy snippets from the internet and feel lost when they fail, and anyone who wants full control over how a Squarespace site looks. Applet Studio says it is not for people who already write CSS comfortably, or for people who only want ready-made snippets without learning.
Format and access
Over eight hours of pre-recorded video on Teachable, in lessons of roughly eight to twenty minutes, with all CSS examples included. Access is immediate and self-paced; Applet Studio expects most people to take a couple of months working through it weekly. The first lecture is free to watch before you buy. Sales are final, with no refunds. Optional one to one tutoring with Roman (five sessions over two months) is sold separately.
Where it falls short
Eight hours is a real commitment, and Applet Studio is honest that watching videos will not make you a front end developer: you learn CSS by fixing your own sites. The course is priced modestly, which the vendor explains as a deliberate choice, but it means no community and no live support unless you pay for tutoring. I would pair it with a free CSS refresher and a live client project to practise on.

Macie is a Squarespace 7.1 template by The Creative Motif, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for working artists who sell commissions and license their work. The demo is a watercolour artist on the Gulf Coast: an in-bloom collection hero, a meet-Macie introduction, a studio news strip and a navigate-and-get-in-touch footer, with a Portfolio page presenting the current collection and a never-miss-a-drop sign-up, a Commissions page listing wedding portraits, event invitations and house portraits with investment details, a four-step process, client reviews, FAQ accordions and an enquiry form, an About page with licensing clients, and a Contact page with where-to-shop stockists. The old listing pitched it at photographers and designers on four pages; the demo is a five-page painter's site built around commissions and licensing. What you get
Five pages: Home, Portfolio, Commissions, About and Contact, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
A Commissions page with three service types, investment details, a four-step process, reviews, FAQ accordions and an enquiry form
A Portfolio page for the current collection with an inspiration note and a collection-drop sign-up, and an About page with a licensing client list
A Contact page with licensing and custom enquiry details and a stockists list
SquareKicker scroll effects and animation settings, editable while the extension is active
A white, warm orange, olive and neutral palette that changes in the Squarespace style editor
A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial
Who it suitsPainters, illustrators, calligraphers, printmakers and surface pattern designers who take commissions, license art to brands and sell through stockists. With new imagery a ceramicist or a textile artist would fit too. Photographers can use it, but it lacks client galleries and proofing.Honest limitsThere is no shop: prints and originals are sold through the stockists listed on Contact, so to sell directly you add Squarespace commerce on a plan that supports it. Commission enquiries come through a form; there is no scheduling or deposit payment without Acuity, Calendly or a payment link. One collection page means older collections need new pages or a gallery collection. The About page still carries placeholder quote text. The scroll effects are SquareKicker features that stay in place after the 30-day trial but need a subscription to keep editing. OmPulse is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Squarely Creative, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for yoga studios and wellness brands that sell classes and memberships. The demo is an inclusive yoga studio: a breathe-into-balance hero, a why-choose-us trio (teachers, amenities, community), a class calendar, testimonials, a featured-in strip and a free-session sign-up, with Class Schedule, Membership and Pricing (annual, monthly, class packs, prenatal and meditation packages, new-student specials, member benefits), Contact and Location, Meet the Instructors, About, Testimonials, a Yoga Insights blog, FAQ, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and a 404. The old listing had the audience right but listed three pages and called the schedule booking-ready, which overstates it: there are twelve layouts and the calendar is a Squarespace event calendar, not a booking system. What you get
Twelve page layouts: Home, Class Schedule, Membership and Pricing, Contact and Location, Meet the Instructors, About, Testimonials, Yoga Insights (blog), FAQ, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and 404, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
A class schedule page built on a Squarespace calendar, and a pricing page with membership tiers, class packs and special packages
An instructors (people) page, a blog, testimonials, an FAQ and a newsletter sign-up with a free-session prompt
A cream, terracotta, tan and olive palette with rounded buttons, changeable in the Squarespace style editor
SquareKicker magnetic motion, fixed scrolling and horizontal scrolling, editable while the extension is active
A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial
Who it suitsYoga studios, pilates and barre studios, meditation centres and small wellness practices with a timetable, memberships and several teachers. A solo yoga teacher can use it by trimming the team and pricing pages, and with new copy it works for a dance school or a climbing gym.Honest limitsThe schedule is a Squarespace calendar of events: to let students reserve and pay for a class you embed a studio booking system (Momence, Mindbody, WellnessLiving, Acuity) or link to it, and memberships are the same. Squarespace Member Sites can gate content but do not run class credits. The vendor copy promises built-in local SEO keywords, which in practice means example copy you will replace. Twelve layouts is a lot for a solo teacher. The motion effects are SquareKicker features that stay in place after the 30-day trial but need a subscription to keep editing. Modern Manor is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Dreyah Bohlen, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for interior designers, home builders and other service businesses that sell by showing finished work. The demo is a residential interior design studio: a timeless-elegance hero, three service tiles, an about section, a work grid, testimonials, a shop teaser, a transform-your-space call to action and a newsletter footer, with three service pages (Residential Interior Design with a consultation-to-installation process, Custom Furniture and Decor, Virtual Interior Design), a six-project Portfolio, a Blog, a Shop layout, Testimonials and Press, FAQs, Contact and a combined privacy and terms page. The old listing counted four pages and a before-and-after section; the real template is thirteen pages with three service pages, a blog, a shop layout and FAQs.What you get
Thirteen page layouts: Home, About, three service pages, Portfolio, Blog, Shop, Testimonials and Press, FAQs, Contact, a privacy and terms page and a 404, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
A Residential Interior Design page with a three-step process (consultation and site assessment, concept and budget, implementation and installation)
A Portfolio page with six named project entries, a four-post Blog and a Testimonials and Press page
A Shop page layout for custom furniture and decor, ready for Squarespace commerce products
SquareKicker scroll effects and animation settings, editable while the extension is active
A pale blue, cream, tan and dark teal palette that changes in the Squarespace style editor
A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial
Who it suitsInterior designers, design-build studios, custom furniture makers, home stagers and renovation firms with a portfolio to show and more than one service to explain. The service-page structure also suits landscape designers, kitchen and bath studios and architects.Honest limitsThe Shop page is a layout only: the demo has no live products, so you add Squarespace commerce and a Business or Commerce plan to sell furniture or decor. Portfolio projects are pages you build by hand, not a filterable gallery. There is no booking for consultations without embedding Acuity or Calendly, and no client portal. Thirteen pages is a lot to fill with copy and photography, so budget time for content. The animations are SquareKicker features that stay in place after the 30-day trial but need a subscription to keep editing. MiniMatic is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Little Ox Workshop, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for design professionals whose images should do the talking: architects, interior designers and small studios. The demo is an architecture and interior design firm in Montana: an integrated-living hero, three service tiles (interior design, design, build), a fulfil-your-vision prompt and a plain contact footer, with a Projects folder holding an Overview page and four project pages (Mountain Retreat, Apartment, Cabin, Urban), a Services page (feasibility study, architectural and interior design, construction), an About page with three team members and a Contact page. The old listing pitched it at consultants and writers on four pages; the demo is a nine-page architecture site built around project case studies. What you get
Nine page layouts: Home, a Projects folder with Overview and four project pages, Services, About and Contact, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
Project pages built as image-led case studies with large galleries, plus an Overview page that indexes them
A Services page with three offers and an About page for a team of any size, or a solo practitioner
Eleven featured sections (header, list, body, ending, projects, project description, contact, about, people, footer) to reuse on any page
Understated parallax scrolling rather than heavy animation, so it stays quick and quiet
A white, black and grey palette that changes in the Squarespace style editor
A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial
Who it suitsArchitects, interior designers, landscape architects, design-build firms and photographers of buildings who want a restrained portfolio with a few case studies and a short services list. Writers and consultants can use it, as the vendor suggests, but only if they have strong imagery to carry it.Honest limitsThere is no blog, no testimonials section and no newsletter sign-up in the demo, so lead capture is the single contact form. Project pages are hand-built, not a gallery collection with filters, so adding a project means duplicating a page. The palette is monochrome by design and the typography is plain, so a brand that needs colour and personality will need more styling work. This template lists no SquareKicker animation presets beyond parallax, which some buyers will see as a plus. Weddings Wanderlust is a Squarespace 7.1 template sold through the SquareKicker template store and designed by The FAB Squad. It is built for a wedding design, styling and florals studio, and the demo is dressed as exactly that: a luxury event design business with a creative director, a floral designer and a social media manager, working across weddings, elopements, private dinners, brand events and editorials. Eight service pages are already written, so it lays out an offer as well as a site. What you get
Fourteen page layouts: Home, About, The Process, Design and Styling, Florals, Destination Weddings, Intimate Elopements, Private Dinners, Editorials, Services Map, Contact, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Cookie Policy
Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine, so sections are drag and drop in the standard editor
A Services folder in the header holding the eight service pages, each with a Prior to the Day, On the Day and Extras breakdown
A Process page with steps, budgets and an FAQ accordion, plus a Services Map page summarising every offer
89 saved sections (services, testimonials, people, galleries, Instagram, calls to action, legal) for new pages
SquareKicker effects: smooth scroll, desktop overlay menu, fixed scrolling, anchor links, sticky sections and scroll effects
A neutral, grey and white palette with large serif headings, set in the style editor
Who it suitsWedding designers, stylists and florists who sell several distinct services and want each one on its own page. Because the About page introduces a team, it suits a small studio better than a solo operator.Honest limitsFourteen pages and 89 sections is a lot to fill, and the demo copy is written for a florist-led studio, so a planner who does not touch florals rewrites rather than swaps. There is no blog and no shop in the layout; add them with Squarespace if you need them. Enquiries come through standard form blocks, so proposals and contracts still live in HoneyBook or Dubsado. The smooth scroll and overlay menu are SquareKicker effects, so keep the Extension if you want to keep editing them after the 30-day trial. At the top of the SquareKicker price range, it earns its place only if you will use most of the service pages. How it is deliveredSquareKicker templates install onto a new or existing Squarespace 7.1 site the moment you buy, with a choice of Use Template Styles or Keep Existing Styles, so it can go onto a live site without wiping your fonts and colours. It is a one-off purchase for one site (a new licence per client project), no SquareKicker subscription is needed to keep using it, and a 30-day trial of the SquareKicker Extension and 10 per cent off a Squarespace plan are included. You need a Business or Core plan or higher to publish, and SquareKicker does not refund digital products.Related guide: compare it with the alternatives in our roundup of the best Squarespace templates for wedding professionals, or browse the templates for wedding planners collection.
Rowan Studio caters to wellness professionals with a layout that highlights class schedules and membership details. What Client Work Remastered isClient Work Remastered is a business class for web and graphic designers from Olga at Applet Studio, the Squarespace template studio. It is about the client process rather than design: how to run a sales call, onboard a client, get content on time, present concepts so they are approved first time, handle feedback and package your services. Olga built it after a project of her own went badly in 2018, and the class is her own process written down. What it coversThere are four core modules. Mastering the Sales Call covers positioning, client psychology and what goes in a proposal. Client Onboarding covers getting content from clients, wireframing, homework, project management tools and client types. The Concept Method Masterclass is the heart of it: presenting work in stages, using mood boards and screencasts, and what to say at each step. Productising Your Services covers packaging and pricing. Alongside the video you get a Notion client portal, email swipes for awkward situations, wireframe templates, a copywriting prompts guide with a business licence, sales scripts, a concept presentation script, proposal and onboarding templates, real client examples and a full transcript. Three lectures were added for 2026 on content marketing and SEO for designers, growing revenue beyond client work, and selling sprints and VIP days.Who it suitsApplet Studio is clear about the fit: designers who already have a few paying projects, a small portfolio and confidence in their design skills, but who cringe at sales calls, get buried in revisions or feel managed by their clients. Around a hundred designers have taken it and the testimonials on the sales page are specific about proposals and discovery calls rather than vague praise. One honest caveatThis is not a Squarespace course and it will not teach you to design or build a site; Olga uses Figma for concepts and says the process works on any platform. It is also not for complete beginners with no clients yet, or for anyone who wants to run a template shop rather than work with clients. The class is over three and a half hours long, hosted on Teachable, and non-refundable, and local VAT may be added at checkout. How you get accessPurchase is through Applet Studio's own checkout, which also offers an optional bundle of three Squarespace templates with an unlimited client licence and an optional one-hour coaching session. Existing students receive the 2026 lectures at no extra cost.Related guideBrowse the rest of the Squarespace courses listed on SquareLocator, and for the software side of running a design business read my roundup of the best tools for Squarespace designers in 2026.
What Kester isKester is one of Squarespace's own free 7.1 templates, built on Fluid Engine and styled as the portfolio of an independent designer and illustrator. The demo site is called Ida Kester: black, white and grey with a red accent, big bold headlines and a set of playful project titles (Gary Gators Locksmith, Tex Mex T-Rex, Comfort Wants You Dead) that tell you this is a creative's site, not a corporate one. The old listing on this page sold Kester as a template for technology companies with product documentation and support pages; it is nothing of the sort. There is no documentation, no product pages for software and no support centre in the demo. It is a five page creative portfolio with a small merch shop attached. What it doesThe pages in the demo are Home, Work, Shop, Blog and Contact. Work is a Squarespace portfolio collection with six sample projects, each opening as its own case study page, which is the right structure for a designer who wants to show process rather than a single grid of thumbnails. Shop is a standard Squarespace store page with two sample t-shirts, so you inherit real product pages and a working cart for merch or prints. Blog is a standard blog with two placeholder posts, and Contact is a form page. Home ties it together with a bold introduction and links into the work. Every section is drag and drop in Fluid Engine, and the high-contrast palette lives in Site Styles, so it softens with a settings change if red and black is too loud.Who it suitsGraphic designers, illustrators, art directors, animators and small studios who want a portfolio with case study pages, a blog for process posts and a place to sell a few products. It is a good fit for freelancers with a strong visual identity and a sense of humour. It is not a template for a tech startup, a SaaS product or a documentation site: for those, look at a template built around feature pages and long-form text. One honest caveatKester gives you a bold skeleton and a lot of personality, and both cut both ways. The layout depends on confident work and short, punchy copy; a cautious portfolio with long descriptions will fight the design. The Shop page only becomes useful on a Business plan or higher, since Personal does not include commerce, and the demo has no About or Services page, so you will add those yourself. As with every free Squarespace template, every image and line of copy is a placeholder.SetupKester is free and included with every Squarespace plan, including Personal, though you need Business or above to take payments in the Shop. You choose it when you start a new site, or preview the demo and click to start from it. There is no licence to buy and nothing to install. Squarespace 7.1 does not let you switch templates on an existing site, so if you already have a 7.1 site you would start a fresh trial from Kester and move your content across. Plan for one to three hours to replace the demo content across the five pages, plus time for each case study you add to Work.Related guideBrowse the templates for designers and templates for artists collections to compare Kester with paid designer templates, or see the full Squarespace templates list. South West is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Olíve Skye Creative, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for interior designers, architects, home builders, photographers and other creative service providers who want a high-end editorial site. The demo is an interiors studio called South West Interiors: a large-type hero, three featured projects, a we-craft-spaces statement, a four-service list (interior design, home staging, project management, consultancy), a benefits section and a custom-quote prompt, with Projects, About, Services, a second services layout, Journal, Press, Inquire and a style guide page. The old listing filed it as real estate; the vendor names real estate as one of four audiences, but the demo is an interiors practice. What you get
Twelve page layouts: Home, Projects, About, Services, a second Services layout, Journal, Press, Inquire, Style Guide, Privacy Policy, Terms and 404, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
Sixty-one SquareKicker sections covering hero, intro, projects, services, gallery, contact, reviews, people, quote, FAQ, journal, legal and footer
Copy prompts and calls to action built into every page, plus a press page and a journal for search traffic
A neutral, brown, grey and white palette that changes in the Squarespace style editor
The heaviest SquareKicker animation set in this batch: desktop overlay menu, smooth scroll, sticky blocks and sections, scroll effects, magnetic motion, a section slider, fixed scrolling and custom cursors
A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial
Who it suitsInterior designers, architecture practices, home builders and developers, property stylists, photographers and stylists with a strong body of work who want their site to feel like a magazine. The press page suits a studio that gets featured.Honest limitsIt needs excellent photography and a real portfolio; with thin content the editorial spacing looks empty. The animation stack is large, so test performance on mobile and be prepared to switch some effects off. There is no shop, no property search and no listings database, so an estate agent with a live inventory should look at a dedicated real estate build instead. The Inquire page is a form; consultation scheduling means embedding Acuity or Calendly. The animations are SquareKicker features that stay in place after the 30-day trial but need a subscription to keep editing. The purchase is one-off and includes a 30-day SquareKicker extension trial; you need a Squarespace Core plan or higher to publish, and SquareKicker template buyers get 10 per cent off a Squarespace plan.Related guide: compare it with the alternatives in our roundup of the best Squarespace templates for interior designers, or browse the Squarespace templates hub.
Novo is a free Squarespace 7.1 template built as a stripped-back portfolio for a designer or art director, and it is about as minimal as a working site gets. The demo belongs to a fictional designer, and the nav holds just two items: Work, which is the homepage, and Contact. Work is a full-width Squarespace portfolio grid of six projects with hover titles, and each project opens onto its own page with a heading, a short description, an image gallery and a link through to the next project. Contact lists four areas of expertise (art direction, branding, packaging and web design), a brief biography and a contact form. There is no About page, no blog and no shop. I keep it in our Squarespace templates for artists collection because it gets out of the way of the work better than most paid portfolio templates.Who it suitsGraphic designers, art directors, illustrators, photographers and small studios with six to twelve strong case studies and no need for a long sales pitch. If your work speaks for itself and you want a client to land straight on it, this is the right shape. One honest caveatTwo pages is a very thin starting point. All the demo copy is placeholder text, there is no custom code, and the grid lives or dies on the quality and consistency of your project thumbnails. Anyone who needs services pages, testimonials or an about story will be building those from blank sections.Setting it upChoose Novo in Squarespace's template picker or start from the demo, replace the six portfolio items with your own projects, write a real biography on the Contact page and connect the form to your inbox. The portfolio grid is a native Squarespace collection and the pages use Fluid Engine, so adding an About page or a services section later is drag and drop.
What Site School isSite School is a self-paced Squarespace tutorial library from Launch Out Loud, a Squarespace template studio. It is pitched at entrepreneurs who want to build, update and launch their own Squarespace 7.1 site without waiting on a designer or piecing together answers from YouTube. The old listing here sold it as a course on high-converting layout and messaging; the vendor's own page describes something more practical: a structured library of how-to videos covering the platform itself. What it coversThe library is split into five sections. Get Started covers opening a trial site, finding your way around the dashboard, choosing a plan and connecting a domain. Squarespace 101 covers the site menu and a walkthrough of the settings panels. Build and Customise is the bulk of the course: site styles, adding and adjusting the different content types, and setting up a blog, shop or podcast. Squarespace Products and Tools covers Scheduling, Email Campaigns, Courses and Invoicing. Launch finishes with basic SEO settings, analytics, privacy law compliance and accessibility before you publish.Who it suitsSite School makes most sense for a business owner who has bought or is about to buy a Squarespace template and wants to be self-sufficient afterwards, or someone building from a blank site who wants one organised place to learn the editor. If you already know Squarespace and want design strategy or conversion copy, this is not that course. One honest caveatLaunch Out Loud includes Site School free with any of its own Squarespace templates, so if you are considering one of their templates, buy the template and you get the course with it. It is recorded on 7.1 Fluid Engine only, and there are no refunds on the course once purchased. The introductory lessons take about an hour, and the rest is a reference library rather than a linear curriculum, which is a strength if you use it that way and a disappointment if you expected a step-by-step build. How you get accessEnrolment is through Launch Out Loud's checkout, with a pay-in-full option and a three-instalment plan. You get lifetime access to the library and any updates the studio adds later.Related guideBrowse the rest of the Squarespace courses listed on SquareLocator, and if you are still deciding on a template first, read my guide on how to choose the right Squarespace template. Spotted is a free Squarespace 7.1 template built as a small online shop for a working artist. The demo is a watercolour painter selling prints, and the whole site is arranged around selling: the nav is just Shop, About and Contact, the homepage leads with a full-width hero, two featured series with Shop Now buttons, a Popular Prints product block and a newsletter sign-up, and the Shop page is a proper Squarespace store with category filters and product options for framing and mounting. It is one of the few free templates where commerce is the point rather than an afterthought, and I would put it alongside the other no-cost options in our free Squarespace templates collection before looking at anything paid.Who it suitsPainters, printmakers, illustrators and photographers who want to sell prints or originals directly, with a short About page to tell their story and a simple contact form. It also works for a small maker or ceramicist, since the layout is really a product catalogue with a personal introduction attached. One honest caveatThis is a starting layout, not a finished site. Three pages is a thin skeleton, there is no custom code, and the design leans on large, well-lit images of the work. If your product photography is weak, the homepage looks empty very quickly. You will also need a Squarespace commerce plan to actually take payments, which the free template does not change.Setting it upPick Spotted in Squarespace's template picker or start from the demo, then swap the demo prints for your own products, rewrite the About page and connect the newsletter form. Everything is built with Fluid Engine, so sections can be dragged, resized and duplicated without touching code. Plan an afternoon to replace the content and set up shipping, tax and payment settings.
Nixin is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Vative Creative, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built as a bold one-page site for an architecture or design practice. The demo is Nixin Architecture: a full-width hero, an about-us block, a where-vision-meets-reality services section, a horizontal-scrolling project strip (a residence, a plaza, a tower), an innovative-architecture and enduring-quality pair, an awards section, an our-vision statement, client testimonials and a contact section with office address, phone and email. The old listing described a technology-startup template, which it is not: the vendor files it under art and design, interior design and real estate, and the demo is an architecture firm. What you get
One page layout with eighteen sections, including hero, informational, services, gallery, reviews, contact and footer, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
A horizontal-scrolling project showcase and an awards section that suits studios with a short list of flagship work
Services, vision, testimonials and contact blocks on one scroll, with anchor navigation
A white, lime green, light grey and dark grey palette that changes in the Squarespace style editor
SquareKicker horizontal scrolling and scroll effects, editable while the extension is active
A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial
Who it suitsArchitecture practices, interior designers, landscape and property-development studios that want a single striking page rather than a project archive. With new imagery it works for an engineering consultancy or a construction firm, and Vative pitches it at any business wanting a strong one-page impression.Honest limitsOne page means no project pages: three flagship projects on a strip is the showcase, and a practice with a deep portfolio will want to add Squarespace portfolio pages. No blog, no news page and no team page. The contact section is a form, so add a map block if you want one. The horizontal scrolling is a SquareKicker feature that stays in place after the 30-day trial but needs a subscription to keep editing. What it isWycoff is one of Squarespace's own free 7.1 templates, and it is the smallest kind of site: a party invitation. The demo is a graduation celebration with a single home page carrying the invitation, the date, time and venue, a hashtag and an RSVP button, plus an RSVP page with the details and a form. That is the whole site. The old listing on this page described a conference and workshop site with registrations. It is not that. Wycoff is a two-page invitation for one event. What you get
Pages: Home and RSVP
Sections: invitation hero, event details, call to action, RSVP form
Bold display type and a playful palette you change in the style editor
Who it suitsGraduations, birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, baby showers and small weddings that want a proper page with an RSVP form rather than a social media event, or a quick landing page for a launch party or open studio.Honest caveatsThe RSVP is a standard Squarespace form, so responses land in your email or a connected spreadsheet; there is no guest list, seating or ticketing. Selling tickets means adding a commerce page and a plan that supports it. Paying for a plan for a two-page site can feel expensive, so use the trial and shortest term. Free templates mean many similar sites, so change the type and colours. How it is deliveredFree means the design costs nothing; you pay for a Squarespace plan when you publish. Start a trial from the template's page on squarespace.com and the demo content is installed for you to replace. Fluid Engine handles the layout, so sections are drag and drop.Related guide: more free Squarespace templates or the full templates hub.
Squarehead is the advanced Squarespace course from Dave Hawkins, founder of London studio Made by Dave and an official Squarespace Expert, Circle Platinum Partner and Authorised Trainer. It is built for designers who can already put together a decent 7.1 site but have hit a ceiling: custom CSS still feels like guesswork, every build starts from scratch, and pricing is based on hours rather than value.
Related guide: see how it compares with the other seven courses I rate in our best Squarespace courses in 2026 roundup, where it is the pick for working designers.
Scroll Away Hero creates a full screen hero that holds attention on load, then fades gracefully away as visitors scroll into the rest of the page. It solves the classic full screen hero trade-off: you get the cinematic opening without permanently sacrificing the top of every page view, because the hero steps aside the moment someone starts exploring. It suits portfolios, studios and brand-led homepages where the first impression carries real weight. Installation is copy and paste code with a video walkthrough, and the plugin is automatically maintained by the developer. See where it sits among the best Squarespace plugins in 2026.
Prescott Russel is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Emily Kay, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for barbers, salons and other appointment-based local businesses with an edgy brand. The demo is a barber shop in the Greater Toronto Area: a the-expert-cut-you-deserve hero, an our-services strip, hours of operation, blog teasers and a book-online prompt, with two Services page layouts (one with pricing and an FAQ), About, Contact, a Gallery, a Blogs and Articles page, an FAQ, a social link page for an Instagram bio, a newsletter sign-up page, a Privacy Policy and a 404. The old listing described a marketing-agency lead-generation template, which it is not: the demo is a barbershop and the layout is a local service site. What you get
Twelve page layouts: Home, Services 01, Services 02, About, Contact, Gallery, Blogs and Articles, FAQ, Social Link Page, Newsletter Signup, Privacy Policy and 404 Error, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
Two services layouts, one with pricing and a service FAQ, plus hours-of-operation and location sections
A gallery page for work photos, a blog, a newsletter page and a link-in-bio page for social profiles
A rust red, cream, beige and dark grey palette that changes in the Squarespace style editor
SquareKicker scroll effects, editable while the extension is active
A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial
Who it suitsBarbers, hair and beauty salons, tattoo studios, and any walk-in or appointment business that wants a bold local site with services, a gallery and hours. The vendor pitches it more broadly at professional services and retail, and the bio-link and newsletter pages make it usable for a personal brand too.Honest limitsBooking is a prompt, not a system: the book-online button points at the contact page, so you embed Squarespace Scheduling (Acuity), Booksy, Fresha or similar. No shop for products without commerce. The demo footer still carries lorem ipsum in the newsletter block, so read every section before publishing. Twelve layouts includes two services pages, and you will use one. The scroll effects are SquareKicker features that stay in place after the 30-day trial but need a subscription to keep editing. What it isTransmission is one of Squarespace's own free 7.1 templates, and the demo is a musician's podcast with a paid members' club. The home page is a dark, type-led screen with a scrolling marquee, the latest episode and a call to join Soundcheck. Behind it sit an About page with contact and listening links, a Podcast page listing episodes as posts with audio players, and a Soundcheck page pitching a monthly membership for demos, studio footage and merch. Login and Account links show it is built around Squarespace's member areas. The old listing on this page described a general media portfolio. It is a podcast and membership site, and that is how I would use it.What you get
Pages: Home, About, Podcast and Soundcheck, plus member login and account
Sections: marquee hero, latest episode, membership pitch, episode list, about, newsletter signup
A dark palette with large display type
Who it suitsPodcasters, musicians and audio creators who want episodes on their own site and a way to sell a fan club.Honest caveatsThe membership page is a design, not a working paywall. Selling member access uses Squarespace's Digital Products, a paid add-on or a Core plan and above, with its own fees. The podcast page is a blog with audio blocks; Squarespace can generate the RSS feed for Apple and Spotify from it.
