How We Review Squarespace Templates and Plugins
SquareLocator is run alongside Altitude, a Squarespace Platinum Partner studio in Plymouth, UK, that has built more than 400 client sites on the platform. Everything here is chosen by people who build Squarespace sites for a living. This page explains exactly what we check before something is listed, what we do not claim, and how we make money.
What we check before a listing goes live
- It is built for Squarespace 7.1. We record the Squarespace version on every listing. Where a creator also supports 7.0, or only supports 7.0, the listing says so.
- It comes from the original creator. Every "Get this" button goes to the creator's own site, so you buy from, and get support from, the person who made it. We do not resell copies.
- The plan it needs. Most plugins install through Code Injection, which needs the Core plan or higher on current Squarespace plans (Business or Commerce on older plans). Where that applies, the listing tells you before you buy.
- Real screenshots only. Template images are captured from the creator's live demo and show the full page, not a cropped hero. Plugin images come from the creator's own demos. We do not use AI-generated product images.
- The price on the creator's site. Prices are taken from the creator's own page. Creators change prices and run sales, so always check the final price at checkout.
- An honest caveat. Rewritten listings include a plain "one honest caveat" section: what the product does not do, or who should buy something else.
What we do not claim
- We have not installed every product we list. Our agency uses many of them on client sites, and where an article or listing draws on that, it says so in the first person. Everything else is checked against the creator's own published information and demo.
- We do not invent ratings, review counts or "best seller" badges. None of that data is public for most Squarespace creators, so we would rather show nothing than make it up.
- We do not say a product is compatible with something we have not seen documented. If a creator does not publish a detail, the listing leaves it out or tells you to check with them.
How we make money
Some links on SquareLocator are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the creator pays us a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked as sponsored in the page code, and articles that contain them say so at the top and bottom.
Commission does not decide what we list or the order you see it in. Plenty of listings earn us nothing because the creator has no affiliate programme, and we list them anyway because they are good. Creators cannot pay for a higher position in our collections.
Keeping listings current
Squarespace changes often, and so do creators. We re-check listings in batches, prioritising the pages people visit most, and remove products that are discontinued, broken or no longer sold. Where an article depends on live facts, such as prices or which sites still run on Squarespace, it states when those were checked.
Found something wrong?
If a price, link or detail is out of date, please tell us and we will fix it. Creators can also ask for corrections to their own listings.
