Before / After Image Slider is a small Squarespace plugin by Will Myers that puts two images on top of each other with a draggable divider, so visitors can wipe between the before and the after. It is a code snippet you paste into your site rather than an app, and it comes with a no code customiser for styling the slider to your brand. The old listing on this page was broadly right about what it does, though it padded the copy with generic claims; this is what the plugin actually offers.

What it does

You add the slider to any page and it works on all Squarespace 7.1 sites, including Fluid Engine layouts. The divider is mobile and touch friendly, so it drags on phones as well as on desktop. The customiser lets you change the divider colour and the before and after labels without touching CSS, and installation is covered by a short video. The multi use licence adds access to the raw CSS and JavaScript files and lets you build the slider into templates you sell.

Who it suits

Anyone whose work is shown best as a comparison: beauty and aesthetics clinics, renovation and interior work, photo retouchers, landscapers, car detailers and web designers showing redesigns. It is also a sensible pick for designers who want one slider that behaves the same across client sites.

One honest caveat

It is a single purpose plugin. There is no gallery of multiple sliders, no vertical divider option listed and no autoplay, so if you want a before and after carousel of many pairs you will be stacking several instances by hand. Support is on a best effort basis for 60 days and Will does not guarantee compatibility with other custom code, so test it alongside anything else you have installed.

Setup

You need a Squarespace Core (formerly Business) plan or higher because the plugin uses code injection; it will not run on the Basic (Personal) plan. Install is copy and paste with a video walkthrough. The single licence covers one website; the multi use licence covers unlimited websites and templates for sale.
