Countdown Timer

Countdown Timer from Elfsight puts a live countdown on a Squarespace page: days, hours, minutes and seconds ticking towards a launch, a sale ending, an event or a registration deadline. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform rather than native Squarespace code. You pick a template in Elfsight's editor, set the end date and time, adjust the colours, labels and layout, then paste the embed code into your site. Elfsight also offers a per-visitor mode where the clock counts down from the moment each visitor arrives, and a sale-bar layout that sits across the top of the page.

Who it suits

Shops running time-limited promotions, course creators with enrolment windows, event organisers and anyone launching something on a fixed date. Squarespace has no built-in countdown block, so this is one of the simpler ways to get one without writing code. A free plan is available to start with.

One honest caveat

The widget loads from Elfsight's servers, so it depends on your Elfsight account staying active, and free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits. A countdown also only works if what it counts to actually happens; evergreen timers that reset for each visitor are legal but can look manipulative if the offer never really ends, so use that mode carefully.

Installation

Build the timer in Elfsight's editor, copy the embed code and paste it into a Squarespace code block where you want it to appear. Any later edits made in Elfsight's editor update on your site automatically.
