Will Myers' Countdown Timer adds a live countdown to an event or deadline on any Squarespace 7.1 page, with three preset styles, and it has one placement option I have not seen elsewhere: it can sit inside the Announcement Bar. That means a sale deadline or launch date follows the visitor to every page rather than living on one landing page, which for a short promotion is where a countdown does its work.
What it includes
Three style presets, more than twenty additional copy-and-paste style tweaks so you can move away from the presets without writing CSS from scratch, a walkthrough video, and copy-and-paste installation code. It is designed to be handed to a client, so once the code is in place changing the target date does not need a developer. It works on all Squarespace 7.1 sites and needs a Core (Business) plan or higher for code injection. Two licences: single site, or multi-use for unlimited sites and templates you sell.
Who it suits
Shops running time-limited sales, course creators with enrolment windows, event organisers, and anyone launching something on a date. The Announcement Bar option suits site-wide promotions; the in-page option suits a launch or event page.
Trade-offs
Two honest caveats. Will notes the plugin works by switching the colour theme class of a section, so it may not sit well with every piece of custom CSS already on your site; if you have a heavily styled site, test before you rely on it. And it is a countdown, not an automation: it does not hide a product, close a form or redirect when the clock reaches zero, so plan what the page shows after the deadline. Support is best-effort for 60 days and covers the plugin rather than custom styling.
