Event Source URL Helper

Squarespace lets you give an event a Source URL, the address of an external booking or ticketing page, but only the event's own page honours it. Calendar blocks, Event Lists and Summary Blocks keep linking to the internal event page, so visitors land on a Squarespace page and then have to click again to reach Eventbrite or your booking system. Event Source URL Helper from BeyondSpace fixes that: once installed, it swaps the internal links in Calendar blocks, Event Lists and Summary Blocks (titles, thumbnails and buttons) for the Source URL you set on each event. It can also detect a booking link written in the event body if you tell it your booking domain, and it supports blog post Source URLs when the "link post title to Source URL" option is on. BeyondSpace state it works on both Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1.

Who it suits

Venues, theatres, gyms, community organisations and anyone selling tickets through an external platform while using Squarespace's Events page to publish the programme. It saves one click for every visitor and a lot of manual link editing for you.

One honest caveat

It relies on you filling in the Source URL on every event, and it changes where links go rather than what they look like. Visitors will leave your site to book, which is the point, but you lose the event page as a landing spot. It is a plugin installed by code injection, so a Core plan or higher (Business or Commerce on older plans) is needed.

Installation

BeyondSpace supply the plugin code and offer a free trial through their Ground Control tool, which lets you preview it in your site's editor before buying and adjust settings without code. Set the Source URL on each event in its settings and the plugin does the rest.
