Instagram Chat

Instagram Chat from Elfsight adds a floating Instagram button to a Squarespace site. When a visitor taps it, they are taken into Instagram Direct to message your account, with an optional greeting bubble on your site inviting them to get in touch. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform rather than native Squarespace code: you enter your Instagram username in Elfsight's editor, set the greeting text, button style and position, then paste the embed code into your site. Elfsight does not store or relay the messages; the conversation happens entirely inside Instagram.

Who it suits

Businesses whose customers already reach them through Instagram DMs: salons, small fashion and homeware brands, photographers, personal trainers and creators. If your inbox lives in Instagram anyway, this gives website visitors a direct route to it without a separate helpdesk. A free plan is available to start with.

One honest caveat

This is a single-channel button. If you also want WhatsApp or Messenger, Elfsight's All-in-One Chat widget covers several channels in one launcher. Visitors also need the Instagram app or a logged-in browser session for the link to open a conversation, and free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits. Like every Elfsight widget, it loads from their servers and stops working if your account lapses.

Installation

No coding is needed. Configure the button in Elfsight's editor, copy the embed code and paste it into a Squarespace code block or footer code injection so it appears on every page.
