What List Section Expand is

List Section Expand is a Squarespace 7.1 plugin from SQS Mods (a FuseHub Creative Group label run by Roland van den Hout) that solves one specific annoyance: the native list section looks great with short blurbs but falls apart when each item carries a few paragraphs. The plugin adds a classic Read More toggle to each list item, so the section loads tidy and visitors expand only the items they want to read. The old listing on this page described the right plugin, so this rewrite adds detail rather than correcting it.

What it does

Once installed, the text inside your list section items is truncated at page load with a Read More link. Clicking it expands that item in place; the rest of the section stays collapsed, which keeps the card heights even and the page short. It works with the standard Squarespace list section, so you keep the native editor for adding and reordering items, choosing the carousel, banner or simple layouts, and styling in Site Styles. There is nothing new to learn in the editor, just a snippet and the plugin does the rest.

Who it suits

Sites that use list sections for team bios, service descriptions, FAQs, testimonials or programme details where each entry needs more than two sentences. Designers who build a lot of client sites will get the most from it, since SQS Mods sell most of their plugins for unlimited use across your sites.

One honest caveat

The vendor product page is thin: no live demo is linked, and there is no written spec for how the truncation length, the Read More label or the animation are controlled, so expect to read the install notes after purchase to find out what is adjustable. If you only have one or two long items, an accordion block or a simple Expand section may be a cheaper answer.

Setup

You need a Squarespace 7.1 site. SQS Mods does not state a plan requirement on the product page, but the plugin is custom code, which in practice means a Core plan or higher for code injection; check with them if you are on Basic. Install is a copy and paste of the plugin code. SQS Mods advertise unlimited usage on their plugins, with a few per site exceptions such as their Code Block Editor, so this one should cover your other sites too; confirm at checkout.
