Overview

The announcement bar holds one line of text; the Mega Announcement Bar makes it hold anything. Will Myers' plugin turns any Squarespace section into an expandable announcement bar, so clicking the bar reveals a full designed section: an advanced navigation, a rich call to action, an offer with imagery and buttons, whatever you build in the normal editor. It is the announcement bar equivalent of a mega menu, and it comes from the same design philosophy: the content is a real Squarespace section, so editing it never touches code. There is a live demo to try, installation is copy-and-paste, the plugin is automatically maintained as Squarespace changes, and it costs $25 single site or $60 multi-use covering unlimited websites and templates for sale.

FAQs

FAQs

What does the Mega Announcement Bar do?
It turns any Squarespace section into an expandable announcement bar: the compact bar stays, and clicking it unfolds a full designed section beneath, for advanced navigation or a detailed call to action.
What can go in the expandable section?
Anything you can build in the Squarespace editor: navigation layouts, promotional panels with imagery and buttons, location pickers, schedules or signup forms.
Has it been used on real client sites?
Yes, professional Squarespace designer Meg Summerfield deployed it on a restaurant group's website, using the expandable bar where the header had no room.
How do I edit the content later?
You edit the Squarespace section that powers it, in the normal editor, with no code involved after installation, which makes client handoff easy.
Can I combine it with the Rotating Announcement Bar?
Choose one: announcement bar plugins modify the same element and compatibility between custom code is not guaranteed.
How is it licensed?
$25 for a single website, or $60 for the multi-use license covering unlimited sites and Squarespace templates for sale, with a live demo available before buying.
