Overview
What Noa Grid Gallery is
Noa Grid Gallery is one of Ghost Plugins' Super Plugins: a CSS and code injection restyle of Squarespace's Grid Gallery Block. Hover an image and a coloured overlay slides in with the image title, its description and a button link, which turns a plain grid of thumbnails into a clickable index of projects, products or team members. The old listing here talked about a drag-and-drop interface and e-commerce support, which is not what the plugin does; it styles a block you already have.
What it does
Every option is set in the plugin's CSS: text alignment (left, centre or right), title size and colour, description size and colour, the thickness and colour of the divider line, button text and colour, the hover overlay colour, image corner radius and the horizontal position of the text. The title, description and link come from the gallery block's own image settings, so the content is managed in the normal Squarespace editor and only the presentation changes.
Who it suits
Portfolios and project indexes are the obvious use, and it is a tidy way to build a team page, a services grid or a category index on a site without Commerce. If you want visitors to land on a grid, understand what each tile is and click through, this does it for very little money.
One honest caveat
Squarespace 7.1 sites do not get Gallery Blocks by default; only sites created through Squarespace Circle have them. Ghost Plugins offers to help add the block to a 7.1 site after purchase, but it is an extra step you should know about before buying. The plugin also requires the Grid Gallery Block specifically, cannot be combined with other plugins that target the same block, and Ghost recommends one grid gallery block per page.
Setup
You paste the styles into the Custom CSS editor and the script into code injection, following the step-by-step install guide, so you need a Core or Business plan or higher. It works on 7.0 and 7.1, the licence covers multiple sites for personal and client use, and updates are free. It is sold on its own or as part of Ghost's Pro Access membership.
