Online Petition Builder

Online Petition Builder is Common Ninja's Petition Form widget: a signature-collection form you embed on a Squarespace page instead of sending supporters to a third-party petition site. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Common Ninja's platform rather than native Squarespace code. In their editor you choose the fields signers fill in (name and email at minimum, optionally address, comments and a hand-drawn signature pad that works with a mouse or finger), add a headline, explanation, images or video, pick a design skin or add custom CSS, and set up email notifications so you know when new signatures arrive. Submissions are saved to your Common Ninja dashboard and can be exported to CSV for delivery to whoever the petition is aimed at.

Who it suits

Campaign groups, residents' associations, charities, student bodies and anyone running a cause who wants to keep signer data on their own site rather than on a platform that shows adverts next to the petition. The free plan covers one petition form with no time limit.

One honest caveat

You become the data controller for every signature, so you need a privacy notice and a plan for the exported list. The free plan limits signatures per month, and stricter integrity features (one signature per email, IP rate limiting), payment collection for donations and premium skins sit on paid plans. Basic honeypot and CAPTCHA protection is included, but expect some junk entries on a busy campaign.

Installation

Build the form in Common Ninja's editor, copy the embed snippet and paste it into a Squarespace code block on your campaign page. Edits made in the editor update on your site automatically.
