Overview
Restaurant Menu from Elfsight puts a proper food and drink menu on a Squarespace page instead of a PDF download. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform rather than native Squarespace code. In Elfsight's editor you create one menu or several, divide each into sections, and add items with a name, description, price and photo. Nutritional and allergen information can be shown with a set of 20 icons, and badges flag new, popular or allergen-containing dishes. Sections and items can be reordered by drag and drop, you control the width and number of columns, and any edit you make in the editor appears on the site straight away.
Who it suits
Cafes, restaurants, pubs, bakeries and caterers whose menu changes often enough that re-exporting a PDF has become a chore, and anyone who wants allergen icons displayed consistently. A free plan is available to start with.
One honest caveat
It is a display menu only. There is no online ordering, table booking or payment built in, so pair it with a separate ordering system if you need one. Prices are typed into Elfsight and not linked to Squarespace Commerce. Free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits, and because the menu loads from Elfsight's servers it disappears if your account lapses.
Installation
Build the menu in Elfsight's editor, copy the embed code and paste it into a Squarespace code block on your menu page. Later edits in the editor update automatically.
