Sale Tag Squarespace Announcement Bar

Squarespace's announcement bar is a plain strip of text across the top of the site. Sale Tag Squarespace Announcement Bar from The Square Genius is a small visual plugin that adds an animated sale tag icon to that bar, so a flash sale, launch, restock or limited offer catches the eye instead of blending into the header. It is delivered as custom JavaScript and CSS for Squarespace 7.1, with a Canva template included so you can design your own tag icons for seasons, services or events. The icon is responsive and sits properly on desktop, tablet and mobile.

Who it suits

Shops running promotions, course creators announcing enrolment windows, and any site owner who already uses the announcement bar and wants the message to work a little harder. It is a modest, single-purpose tweak, which is exactly why it is easy to live with.

One honest caveat

This adds an icon to the announcement bar. It does not add scheduling, multiple rotating messages, countdowns or targeting; those still come from Squarespace's own announcement bar settings, which are basic. It needs Code Injection, so a Core plan or higher (Business or Commerce on older plans), and the vendor states it is compatible with Squarespace 7.1 only.

Installation

Paste the JavaScript into Code Injection and the CSS into Custom CSS following the included step-by-step guide, then switch on the announcement bar in your Squarespace settings if it is not already showing. Swapping the icon later means replacing the image you designed in Canva.
