Overview
Common Ninja's Section Builder widget lets you design custom content blocks in Common Ninja's editor and embed them on a Squarespace page. It is for layouts the native blocks find awkward, such as feature grids, icon rows or mixed content cards.
What it does
- Build custom sections from text, images, icons and buttons
- Control over columns, spacing and styling
- Edit the section in Common Ninja and it updates on your site
- Embeds with a code block
Who it suits
Site owners who need a layout Fluid Engine cannot quite produce, but do not want to write HTML and CSS.
Honest caveats
Content inside a hosted widget is not edited in Squarespace, which can confuse clients at handover. Fluid Engine handles most layouts natively. The free plan has usage limits and paid plans are billed yearly per widget, from $24 a year. It needs a Squarespace Core plan or higher.
Most teams evaluate it against manual layout tweaks: the pitch is faster iteration on grid, spacing, and reusable section patterns without exporting the problem to custom code.
Fit depends on your template and commerce setup; compare Common Ninja’s live examples to your own navigation, commerce, or section patterns before buying.
Use SquareLocator as a starting point, then validate details (refunds, updates, support channels) directly with Common Ninja before committing.
Strongest when your brief explicitly mentions grid, spacing, and reusable section patterns; weaker if you only need generic “make the site better” tooling.
