Squarespace Content Reveal Plugin

Squarespace has no built-in way to collapse a whole section behind a button. Squarespace Content Reveal Plugin from The Square Genius adds a "Show more / Show less" toggle that hides any section of a Squarespace 7.1 page until the visitor chooses to open it, with a smooth fade-in when they do. It is aimed at long pages: extended FAQs, case studies, detailed product information, image-heavy sections and supporting text that not everyone needs. The hidden content stays in the page code, so search engines still read and index it. The plugin is HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with the button text and colours customisable.

Who it suits

Service businesses with long explanatory pages, consultants with detailed case studies, shops with lengthy product specifications, and anyone who has been told their page is too long but does not want to delete anything. It is a tidy way to keep a page short for skimmers and complete for readers.

One honest caveat

Hiding content does not make the page lighter. Everything still loads, so this improves readability rather than speed. Collapsed content can also be missed by visitors who never click, so keep anything essential visible. Custom code needs a Core plan or higher (Business or Commerce on older plans), and the vendor states it works with Squarespace 7.1.
