Overview
Squarespace's shop pages load products as one long list, and on a large catalogue that means a lot of scrolling and a page that grows heavier the further down you go. This plugin from The Square Genius adds proper pagination to Squarespace 7.1 product listings, splitting the catalogue into numbered pages that visitors can move between. It is designed to look like part of the site rather than a bolt-on, with styling you can adjust and a layout that works on mobile.
Who it suits
Shops with more than a couple of dozen products, and portfolio sites that use the Squarespace commerce collection to present a large body of work. If your customers are scrolling past forty items to find the one they want, pagination is the fix.
One honest caveat
Pagination changes how visitors browse, and some shoppers prefer a single scroll on mobile. It is worth checking your analytics after installing to make sure people are still reaching the products lower in the catalogue.
Installation
Installation follows the usual pattern for Square Genius plugins: copy the supplied code into your Squarespace 7.1 site as the vendor's instructions describe. Custom code normally requires a plan that permits code injection.
