Overview
By default, clicking the cart icon on a Squarespace shop sends the customer to a separate cart page. Squarespace Shopping Cart Slider Plugin from The Square Genius replaces that trip with a drawer that slides in from the right, showing the cart over the current page so the customer can review their basket, keep browsing and head to checkout without a full page load. The native Squarespace checkout is untouched. What sets this one apart from other cart drawers is a built-in promotional link inside the drawer: every time the cart opens, you can highlight a product, bundle or offer at the top or bottom, and switch it off with a toggle when you do not need it. It is JavaScript and CSS for Squarespace 7.1 commerce sites.
Who it suits
Small and medium Squarespace shops that want a more modern buying flow, and especially stores with a bundle, upgrade or seasonal offer they would like every customer to see at the moment they are already buying.
One honest caveat
The drawer displays your existing Squarespace cart rather than rebuilding it, so it inherits whatever the native cart looks like, and the cart page still exists for anyone who reaches it directly. The promotional link is a single static link you edit in the code, not a rotating or rules-based upsell. You need a commerce plan for the shop and Code Injection for the plugin, so a Core plan or higher (Business or Commerce on older plans), and the vendor states it is built for Squarespace 7.1 only.
Installation
Paste the JavaScript into Code Injection and the CSS into Custom CSS following the full guide, then set the promotional link text, URL and position in the settings at the top of the script.
