What does Video Element do?

It adds a clean, customisable video component to Squarespace with autoplay as the video scrolls into view, tap to pause, an unmute button, and custom colours.

Why does the video autoplay without sound?

All major browsers block autoplay with sound by default. Video Element autoplays muted and gives visitors an unmute button, which is the pattern browsers allow and users expect.

How long can my video be?

Squarespace limits self-hosted files to 20MB, roughly one minute at 1080p or four minutes at 720p. This element is best for short marketing clips; longer videos belong on YouTube or Vimeo with a standard embed.

Installation is copy and paste code with a video walkthrough. No coding knowledge is needed, and the plugin is automatically maintained by the developer.

What is the difference between the single and multi-use license?

The single license covers one website. The multi-use license covers unlimited websites and use inside Squarespace templates you sell.

What support is included?

Best-effort support for the first 60 days after purchase for universal technical issues. Individual customisation is not covered, and compatibility with other third-party code is not guaranteed.

Overview

Video Element adds a clean, comprehensive video component to your Squarespace site with features the native video block lacks: autoplay as the video scrolls into view, tap to pause, an unmute button, and custom colours to match your branding. It is built for those short, silent-by-default marketing clips that play inline as visitors browse.

Worth knowing up front: Squarespace limits self-hosted files to 20MB, which is roughly one minute of 1080p footage, so this element suits short promo clips rather than long videos. Installation is copy and paste code with a video walkthrough, and the plugin is automatically maintained by the developer. See where it sits among the best Squarespace plugins in 2026.
