Squarespace Circle Explained: Benefits, Tiers, and Circle Day 2026

Squarespace Circle Day logo

Every autumn, a slice of the Squarespace world tilts towards New York. Circle Day is coming back on Wednesday 21 October 2026, and if you have ever wondered what "Squarespace Circle" actually is, why designers keep mentioning it, and whether any of it is relevant to you, this is the plain-English version.

I run Altitude Design, a Squarespace Platinum Partner agency, so I have been inside Circle for years. Below is what the programme really offers, how the tiers work, and an honest read on where it helps and where it is oversold.

What is Squarespace Circle?

Squarespace Circle is Squarespace's free partner programme for people who build websites for clients: designers, developers, and agencies. It is not a separate product and it is not a hidden paid plan. It sits on top of your normal Squarespace account and unlocks a set of professional perks once you join.

A quick point of confusion worth clearing up: Circle has nothing to do with Square, the payments company. If you have ever muddled the two names, our guide on Square vs Squarespace untangles that properly. Circle is purely the Squarespace side of things.

Who is it for, and who can join?

Circle is open to all Squarespace customers, and it is free, always. That said, it is designed for professionals who build client sites rather than someone setting up a single personal website. The benefits are shaped around agency work: client trials, referral commissions, priority support. If you only ever plan to run one site for yourself, you can still join, but most of the perks will not apply to you.

The benefits, in practice

Here is what membership actually gives you, based on Squarespace's current programme and my own day-to-day use of it:

  • Client discounts. Members get a discount on the first payment of new annual website and online store subscriptions, and on annual Email Campaigns and Acuity Scheduling. It starts at 10% off and increases as you move up the tiers. You can pass this saving to clients or fold it into your pricing.
  • Extended trials. The standard Squarespace trial is 14 days. Circle stretches that out considerably (currently up to six months for new client sites), which is genuinely useful when a build runs long or a client is slow to sign off.
  • Referral payments. Members can earn commissions on new qualifying subscriptions they bring to Squarespace. For an agency launching sites regularly, this turns everyday work into a small recurring income stream.
  • Priority support. You reach the support queue faster, which matters when a client site has a live problem.
  • The Circle badge. A profile badge you can display to signal you are a recognised partner.
  • Community and content. Access to a private community, a forum, advanced guides, and early looks at features before they ship.

One honest caveat on the discount: it applies to the first payment only, not renewals, and it does not cover domains, Google Workspace, or monthly billing. It is a first-year lever, not a permanent price cut.

How the tiers work: Silver, Gold, Platinum

Circle runs on three statuses, decided by a points system: Silver, Gold, and Platinum. You earn points mainly by launching client subscriptions, and your points reset at the start of each calendar year, so your status reflects recent activity rather than a lifetime total.

Silver is the free entry tier that anyone can join with no qualifying sites required. Gold and Platinum sit above it and unlock deeper discounts, larger referral earnings, and more direct access to Squarespace's teams. The exact point thresholds and discount percentages shift from year to year as Squarespace tunes the programme, so I would not treat any single third-party figure as gospel. Your live status and current perks always show in the Circle dashboard inside your Squarespace account, and that is the source of truth.

Being a Platinum Partner, the tier that has changed my business most is not the discount at all. It is the access and the credibility. When a prospective client sees a genuine partner status, the trust conversation gets shorter.

What is Circle Day?

Circle Day is Squarespace's annual conference for the pro community. It is a single global day of sessions, product announcements, and workshops, streamed online with a limited in-person gathering at Squarespace's New York headquarters. Last year's event was where Squarespace unveiled Squarespace for Pros, its biggest push yet for designers and agencies, including the Finish Layer design toolkit and a unified Circle dashboard.

Circle Day 2026 lands on Wednesday 21 October, running online and at Squarespace HQ in New York, with events starting around 9:00 AM Eastern. Attending online is free for everyone, member or not. In-person places are limited and, as of writing, already sold out with a waitlist running, so the livestream is the realistic way in for most people. If you want to see where Squarespace is heading next, it is the best single day of the year to watch.

The 2026 speaker line-up is a strong one for anyone who follows the plugin and template scene. Alongside Squarespace founder and CEO Anthony Casalena, the bill includes Will Myers, whose plugins we cover extensively on this site, SquareKicker co-founder Nick Ippolito, Becca Harpain of Inside The Square, and Squarespace's own SEO Manager Tom Smeaton. In other words, the people who build the tools working designers actually use are the ones on stage this year.

Is Circle worth it? An honest take

If you build client sites, yes, without much hesitation. It costs nothing, the extended trials and priority support pay for themselves in saved hassle, and the referral payments are real money for work you are doing anyway. The main effort is remembering to actually route client subscriptions through your account so you earn the points and the commissions.

If you are a business owner rather than a designer, the more useful takeaway is this: hiring a Circle partner (ideally Gold or Platinum) usually means a smoother build, a possible first-year discount, and someone who has priority access to Squarespace when something breaks. It is a reasonable box to tick when choosing who to work with.

Wherever you land, Circle is only part of the picture. The tools you bolt on to a Squarespace build often matter more day to day.
