Overview

Ground Control is BeyondSpace's free, pay-what-you-want control panel for the Squarespace editor. Once installed, a small icon in the top-left corner of the editor opens a panel with a Quick Access toolbar (shortcuts to Home, Code Injection, Custom CSS, Orders, collections and your own bookmarks) and a Toolbox of switches for BeyondSpace's free tools: Classic Gallery Block, Publication Datepicker, Asset Library Enhancer and Smart Link (LITE). It is also the settings hub for BeyondSpace's paid plugins, with visual configuration and one-click free trials.

What you get

  • Quick Access toolbar for common admin views and bookmarked links
  • Toolbox switches for BeyondSpace's free editor tools
  • Visual settings panels for BeyondSpace paid plugins
  • One-click free trials of paid plugins such as Lightbox Studio
  • Pay what you want, from $0

Who it suits

Designers and developers who spend all day in the Squarespace editor, and anyone already using BeyondSpace plugins who wants their settings in one place rather than in JSON or CSS.

Honest limits

BeyondSpace state plainly that Ground Control and its toolbox use unpublicised Squarespace APIs, which may change without notice, so a Squarespace update can break a tool until it is patched. Installing also opts you into occasional emails with Squarespace tips. Personal plan users need a browser user script (Tampermonkey) rather than code injection.

How it is delivered

Choose a price from $0 to $25 and check out. The code is on your order status page and in the confirmation email. On a Business plan or higher, paste it into Footer Injection; on a Personal plan, follow BeyondSpace's tutorial to add it as a Tampermonkey user script.

Ground Control is a freemium plugin from BeyondSpace that adds a control panel to the Squarespace editor. Hover over the small icon in the top-left corner and a panel opens with two main areas.

Quick Access is a toolbar of shortcuts to the admin views you use most (Home, Code Injection, Custom CSS, Orders, collections) plus your own bookmarks, and a frontend mode that takes you from a live page to its editor.

The Toolbox holds switches for BeyondSpace's free tools: Classic Gallery Block for 7.1 sections, Publication Datepicker with month and year views, Asset Library Enhancer for downloading images and copying URLs, and Smart Link (LITE) for picking collection items in the Link Editor. It is also where BeyondSpace's paid plugins are configured visually and where free trials can be started.

The honest caveat is BeyondSpace's own disclaimer: it relies on unpublicised Squarespace APIs that may change without notice.

Pricing is pay what you want from $0. Business plan sites install it via Footer Injection; Personal plan users run it as a Tampermonkey user script.
