The Hotel

The Hotel is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Altitude, sold through the SquareKicker template store, and I should declare an interest: Altitude is my own agency. The demo is a luxury New York hotel with rooms and suites, a bar and restaurant, a neighbourhood guide and a Book a Stay button on every page. The old listing on this page called it a restaurant template; it is a hotel template first, with a drink and dine page as one part of it.

What you get

• Ten pre-built page layouts: landing, about, rooms and suites, drink and dine, blog, neighbourhood, contact, room, legal and gallery
• The demo site is arranged as Home, About Us, Rooms and Suites, Drink and Dine, Specials, Neighbourhood, Gallery, Contact Us, a room example page and a privacy policy
• Twenty featured sections including homepage hero, video hero, rooms, menus, news and offers, people, neighbourhood, map, FAQ, gallery, contact and footer
• A desktop overlay menu driven by SquareKicker animations
• Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine, so pages and sections can be mixed and matched
• A one-off purchase with a 30-day SquareKicker extension trial included

Who it suits

Independent hotels, boutique guesthouses, inns with a restaurant or bar, and serviced apartments that want a polished, editorial look without a custom build. The room layout and the drink and dine page cover the two things a hotel site must do well, and the neighbourhood and specials pages give you somewhere to sell the location and offers. It also works for a members' club or a wedding venue with rooms.

Honest limits

There is no booking engine inside the template: the Book a Stay and Book a Table buttons are links, so you connect your own reservation system or a booking widget. The overlay menu and other animations are SquareKicker effects, so editing those after the 30-day trial needs a SquareKicker subscription (the site keeps working without one). The demo copy is written for a city hotel, so a rural or coastal property will be rewriting the tone as well as swapping photos. Needs a Squarespace 7.1 site on a Core or Business plan or higher.

How it is delivered

SquareKicker templates install through the SquareKicker Template Engine onto any Squarespace 7.1 site, new or existing, with no duplicate site or copy and paste. You pick the pages and sections you want, install them, then style and edit in the Squarespace editor. The purchase also works on a Squarespace free trial.
