Overview
Website Translator from Elfsight adds an automatic language switcher to a Squarespace page, so visitors can view your site in a language they choose. It supports more than 100 languages and uses Google's translation engine. This is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform, not native Squarespace code. In Elfsight's editor, you can choose a switcher template, select languages and display options, and adjust colours and fonts. The widget offers 22 predefined styles, inline or floating placement, and three size options. You can also use custom CSS and JS editors for further styling. The editor lets you exclude specific page elements or text fragments from translation.
Who it suits
This may suit Squarespace site owners with visitors who speak different languages, including businesses, online shops and publishers with pages, blog articles or checkout content to translate. The language switcher gives visitors a way to select a language, while exclusions let you keep chosen text in its original form. A free plan is available to start with.
One honest caveat
The widget provides automatic translation, and full custom translation editing is listed as in development. You can exclude specific elements or text fragments, but the vendor does not describe a finished tool for editing each translated phrase. On the free plan, widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits. Paid plans remove those limits and branding. The widget is hosted by Elfsight, so it stops showing if your Elfsight account lapses.
Installation
Build and customise the language switcher in Elfsight's online editor, then copy its embed code. In Squarespace, open the page where you want the switcher to appear, add a Code Block and paste in the code. Later changes made in the Elfsight editor update automatically on your site.

In the Elfsight editor, choose a language switcher template, select supported languages and set display options. The design controls include 22 predefined styles, colour and font customisation, inline or floating placement, and three size options. The widget is described as optimised for different devices and screens, with lazy loading.
You can mark specific elements or text fragments to remain in the original language. The vendor also says email addresses are not modified by the translation engine. Full custom translation editing is listed as in development, so the available control described here is exclusion rather than rewriting translated phrases.
