Long pages lose people not because the content is bad but because there is no map. Will Myers' Pinned Page Nav Bar provides one: a navigation bar that outlines your page's content and stays pinned as visitors scroll, letting them jump straight to the section they need. It is the pattern documentation sites and long-form sales pages use for a reason: visitors who can see the structure of a page trust it and stay on it. Installation is copy-and-paste with a video, the plugin is automatically maintained as Squarespace changes, and it costs $25 for a single site or $60 multi-use covering unlimited websites and templates for sale.Browse the other navigation upgrades we rate in our guide to the best Squarespace mega menu and navigation plugins.
Instagram Feed from Elfsight (their InstaShow product) shows posts from an Instagram account or hashtag on a Squarespace page. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform rather than native Squarespace code. In Elfsight's editor you add up to five sources, which can be usernames, hashtags or a mix, and filter posts in or out by word, hashtag or URL. Photos, videos, carousel posts and Reels are all supported, with a Slider or Grid layout, a popup for full-size viewing, follow and share icons and optional call-to-action buttons. Squarespace does have a native Instagram block, so the question is whether you need the extra control this gives you.Key features
Account or hashtag sources, up to five per widget
Photos, videos, carousels and Reels
Slider or Grid layouts with adjustable columns and rows
Show and hide filters by word, hashtag or post URL
Popup viewing, follow and share icons, call-to-action buttons
12 colour schemes plus paintable elements
Free plan with Elfsight branding and view limits
Who it suitsShops, restaurants, makers and creators whose Instagram is their most active channel, especially if you want to pull in a hashtag campaign or filter business posts from personal ones. If the native Squarespace Instagram block already does what you need, you may not need this at all.Honest limitsA private or restricted profile will not display until it is switched to Business or Creator and connected. Posts do not appear instantly; Elfsight's own guidance for Instagram sources quotes a refresh of around 48 hours. Tagged or mentioned posts need the separate Social Feed widget. Free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits, and the feed stops if your Elfsight account lapses.Installation on SquarespaceConnect your account or hashtag in Elfsight's editor, choose a layout, copy the embed code and paste it into a Squarespace code block where the feed should appear. Later edits in the editor update automatically.Related guide: see my review of which Elfsight widgets are worth it on Squarespace.

What Mycelium isMycelium is one of Squarespace's own free 7.1 templates, built on Fluid Engine and styled as a small print shop for a landscape photographer. The demo is dark and quiet: near-black backgrounds, a red accent, lower-case type and moody photographs of Icelandic coastlines, riverbeds and hot springs. The old listing on this page described a four page portfolio with Home, About, Portfolio and Contact pages; the actual demo is three pages and the middle one is a shop. If you want to sell prints from a minimal, image-led site, this is one of the few free Squarespace templates built around that. What it doesThe pages in the demo are Home, Prints and Contact. Home is a full-bleed image page with a short line of copy and a link into the shop. Prints is a standard Squarespace store page with six sample products, each a landscape print with its own product page, price field, variants and add to cart button, so you inherit a working checkout rather than a gallery pretending to be one. Contact is a simple form page. There is no About page in the demo, no blog and no portfolio collection; the shop grid does the job of the portfolio. Because it is Fluid Engine, every section is drag and drop, and the dark palette, red accent and type all live in Site Styles.Who it suitsLandscape, fine art and travel photographers who want to sell prints, illustrators and printmakers with a small catalogue, and anyone who wants a dark, image-first store with very little chrome. It works as a side shop for a photographer whose main portfolio lives elsewhere, and it scales to a few dozen products before the single grid starts to feel crowded. One honest caveatSelling anything on Squarespace needs a Business plan or higher (Personal does not include commerce), and Business takes a transaction fee on top of card processing; if you plan to sell more than a handful of prints a month, price the Commerce plans first. The demo also has no About page, so you will build the story of who you are yourself, and the dark palette only works with strong, consistent imagery. Print fulfilment is not part of the template: Squarespace's built-in commerce handles orders, but printing and shipping is your problem, or a print-on-demand extension's.SetupMycelium is free and included with every Squarespace plan, but you need Business or above to take payments. You choose it when you start a new site, or preview the demo and click to start from it. There is no licence to buy and nothing to install. Squarespace 7.1 does not let you switch templates on an existing site, so if you already have a 7.1 site you would start a fresh trial from Mycelium and move your content across. Plan for one to three hours to replace the six demo products and the home and contact copy, plus time to connect a payment processor and set up shipping.Related guideSee how Mycelium compares with paid designer templates in my roundup of the best Squarespace templates for photographers, or browse the templates for photographers collection and the full Squarespace templates list. Edit the source once and every connected sidebar updates instantly, with no copying and pasting. It supports up to two sidebars per page (distinct left and right), inherits your site's existing fonts and colours, installs via a short snippet in Code Injection, and is customised through a built-in style and code generator. $49 as a one-off for a single site, with a $249 agency licence covering unlimited client sites.See what else made our roundup of the best Squarespace plugins in 2026.
Long pages need pacing, and the background is the most underused tool for it. Will Myers' Change Background On Scroll makes your Squarespace section backgrounds transition smoothly as visitors scroll, so a long page reads as a flowing story with distinct chapters rather than a stack of disconnected blocks. It is the kind of effect that makes visitors notice a site feels crafted without being able to say why. Installation is Will's standard copy-and-paste with a video, the plugin is automatically maintained as Squarespace changes, and it costs $25 for a single site or $60 multi-use covering unlimited websites and templates for sale.

Add Announcement Bar is Elfsight's Announcement Bar widget: a strip across the top or bottom of a Squarespace site for offers, shipping notices, opening changes or launch news. It is an embeddable widget hosted on Elfsight's platform rather than native Squarespace code. In Elfsight's editor you pick from 19 templates, add text, icons, badges, images or even a short video, and attach a call to action button or link. The bar can sit at the top, the bottom or inline, static or sticky, with separate settings for desktop and mobile. Display rules restrict it to chosen pages, a scheduler starts and stops it on set dates, and you can add fields to capture email addresses from the bar itself.Who it suitsShops with rotating promotions, businesses that need different messages on different pages, and anyone who wants an announcement to switch itself off at the end of a campaign without a reminder in the diary. A free plan is available to start with. One honest caveatSquarespace has its own announcement bar under Marketing, free on every plan, and for a single site-wide line of text it is the better choice: no third-party script, no branding, no account to lapse. Elfsight's version is worth it for scheduling, page targeting, images and lead capture. Free-tier widgets carry Elfsight branding and monthly view limits, and the bar disappears if your account lapses.InstallationBuild the bar in Elfsight's editor, copy the embed code and paste it into Squarespace footer code injection so it appears site-wide, then use display rules to limit pages. Later edits in the editor update automatically.
List Sections are among Squarespace 7.1's best layout tools (banners, carousels, tidy card grids), with one built-in flaw: every item is entered by hand and stays frozen until someone remembers to update it. Will Myers' Collection to List Section Sync fixes the flaw at the root by syncing your blog or online store into a List Section automatically. Publish a post or add a product and the section updates itself, so a latest-articles carousel or featured-products banner stays permanently current with zero maintenance. Installation is copy-and-paste with a video, the plugin is automatically maintained as Squarespace changes, and pricing is Will's standard $25 single site or $60 multi-use for unlimited websites and templates for sale.

Designed for fashion and beauty brands, Barbosa offers dynamic product displays and elegant lookbook layouts. It's ideal for those prioritizing visual storytelling in their online presence.
What Brower isBrower is one of Squarespace's own free 7.1 Fluid Engine templates, and it is a food blog, not a restaurant site. The homepage is a masonry Blog collection with fourteen sample posts, the About page introduces "a food knowledge sharing community", and Contact is a single page. The old listing on this page described a restaurant template with menus, bookings and galleries; that was wrong. There is no menu page, no reservations block and no gallery in the demo. What it doesThe homepage blog uses Squarespace's masonry layout with author, date, excerpt and a Read More link on each card, so a food writer or recipe developer can publish straight into a layout that already handles mixed image heights. Each post is a normal blog post with categories, tags, comments and sharing available in the settings. The About page is a plain Fluid Engine page with text and imagery (the demo photography was shot at the New York restaurant Buvette), and Contact is ready for a form block. A newsletter sign up sits in the footer for building a list. As with every Squarespace template, fonts, colours and spacing are edited in Site Styles.Who it suitsFood writers, recipe bloggers, restaurant critics, cookery teachers and small food communities who want the writing front and centre. It is also a decent base for a cafe or bakery that mainly wants a journal and a contact page, provided you are willing to add the commercial pages yourself. One honest caveatIf you run a restaurant this is the wrong starting point. There is no menu block, no reservation or table booking integration, no opening hours section and no gallery in the demo, and the homepage being a Blog collection means the first thing visitors see is your latest post rather than a hero with your location and hours. All of that can be built, but at that point another Squarespace template will get you there faster.SetupBrower is free and included with every Squarespace plan. Start a trial from the Squarespace templates page, choose Brower and the sample posts are loaded for you to replace. No licence and no install. The footer newsletter block needs a storage connection such as Squarespace Email Campaigns or Mailchimp before it will collect addresses, and Commerce or custom code need a Core plan or higher.Related guideBrowse the templates for food and drink brands sub-collection or the full Squarespace templates collection, and read my guide on how to choose the right Squarespace template before settling on a free one.
What Burger Flip isBurger Flip is a Squarespace 7.1 template designed by Square Templates Club and sold through the SquareKicker template store. It is a loud, playful restaurant site: big type, bold colour blocks, food photography at full width and copy written for a burger joint. The old listing on this page claimed an integrated reservation system and pages called Reservations and Promotions. Neither exists in the demo. What you actually get is a six page restaurant site built around a menu, an events page and a deals section, so I have rewritten this from the vendor page and the live demo. What it doesThe demo has Home, About, Events, Menu and Contact pages plus a Menu Inner page that acts as the layout for individual menu categories (chips, ribs, salads and so on). Across those pages there are 16 sections: six hero variants, a deals hero, two services layouts, a text and image block, a full width image, a reviews section, an events section, a menus grid, a menu item layout, a contact section and the footer with a newsletter sign up and social links. The template uses SquareKicker's sticky sections and scroll effects on around twenty blocks, which is what gives the demo its movement, and you can mix and match the pre-designed pages and sections through the SquareKicker Template Engine.Who it suitsBurger bars, fast casual restaurants, food trucks, takeaways and any food and drink business that wants a site with personality rather than a quiet, minimal one. It also suits designers who build a lot of restaurant sites and want a ready made starting point they can restyle per client. One honest caveatThere is no booking or ordering built in. If you take table reservations or online orders you will add Squarespace's own reservations block, OpenTable, Tock or a third party ordering tool yourself. The scroll effects and sticky sections also depend on SquareKicker: they are baked into the template, but if you want to edit or extend them after the 30 day trial you will need a SquareKicker subscription, and the bold styling is not easy to make subtle.SetupBuy once on the SquareKicker store, install the free SquareKicker extension on a new Squarespace 7.1 site and import the template from the Template Engine. It works on a Squarespace Core or Business plan or higher, and on a Squarespace free trial. A 30 day SquareKicker extension trial is included, no ongoing SquareKicker subscription is required to keep using the site, and SquareKicker offer a discount on your Squarespace plan when you buy a template.Related guideCompare Burger Flip with the other options in my Squarespace templates for restaurants collection or browse every Squarespace template I list. My SquareKicker review explains how the extension and template store fit together, and how to choose the right Squarespace template covers the questions to ask before buying.
Most layout plugins make you build the content twice: once in your collection and again in the fancy display. Will Myers' Vertical Accordion avoids that entirely, creating a stylish vertical accordion layout that pulls its content dynamically from a Portfolio or Blog Collection you already maintain. Add a project to the portfolio and the accordion updates itself; there is nothing to rebuild and no second copy to keep in sync, which also makes it genuinely easy to hand off to a client. Installation is copy-and-paste with a walkthrough video, the plugin is automatically maintained as Squarespace changes, and it costs $25 for a single site or $60 multi-use covering unlimited websites and templates for sale.
