What Balance is
Balance is a Squarespace 7.1 template designed by Jen Maher and sold through the SquareKicker template store. The demo is a destination yoga and wellness retreat in the Mexican Baja: soft blues and neutrals, big landscape photography, video, and a lot of scroll animation. The old listing on this page described a yoga studio site with a class schedule, testimonials and contact pages; the real demo is built around a single retreat, with pages for the location, what to expect, the facilitators, a gallery and a reservation form, so I have rewritten this from the SquareKicker listing and the live demo.
What it does
The six pages are Home, Accommodations and Location, What to Expect, Your Retreat Facilitators, Gallery and Reserve Your Spot. The home page introduces the retreat and its lead instructor, lists the dates and price of the next intensive, summarises the daily programme (yoga and meditation, vegetarian meals, workshops) and pushes to the reservation page. The facilitators page profiles the team, the gallery is an image showcase, and the reservation page is a Squarespace form rather than a payment flow. SquareKicker describe an abundance of scroll effects, which is accurate, and the imagery and video were curated by the designer so you can keep them without the stock photo look. By swapping the copy the same structure works for services, group classes or events.
Who it suits
Retreat organisers first, then yoga teachers, wellness coaches and workshop hosts who sell one main experience rather than a timetable. SquareKicker also suggest therapists and counsellors, and the calm tone would carry that, though you would rename most pages.
One honest caveat
There is no booking or payment built in. Reserve Your Spot is a contact form, so to take deposits you will add Squarespace Scheduling, a commerce page or a third party tool. The scroll effects come from SquareKicker; they are baked into the template, but editing or adding to them after the 30 day trial needs a SquareKicker subscription. And the design assumes one hero offering; a studio with a weekly timetable will need to restructure.
Setup
Buy once on the SquareKicker store, install the free SquareKicker extension on a new Squarespace 7.1 site and import Balance through the Template Engine. It works on a Squarespace Core or Business plan or higher and on a free trial, includes a 30 day SquareKicker extension trial with no ongoing subscription required, and SquareKicker offer a discount on your Squarespace plan with a template purchase.
