Who Iris is built for
Iris is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Big Cat Creative aimed at small creative businesses that sell services and want a portfolio alongside them: web and brand designers, photographers, bloggers and general creatives. The demo is a small design studio offering web design, brand design and photography, so it suits anyone whose site needs to do three jobs at once: explain services, show recent work and capture leads. The old listing counted four pages; the vendor lists seven and the demo navigation shows eight because the portfolio comes in two layouts.
The pages and sections you get
The live demo gives you Home, About, Services, Info, Blog, Contact and a Portfolio folder with two alternative layouts (a grid and an editorial option). The home page runs a welcome hero, a short intro with three service cards, a recent projects summary block pulling from the portfolio, a free training newsletter signup and an Instagram-style gallery. Services has three service blocks, a testimonial and an FAQ accordion; Info is a single-offer sales page with deliverables, a process and project examples, which you duplicate for each offer; Contact carries the form. There is a working blog. There is no shop in the base build. Matching shop, sales page, podcast, freebie and link page layouts exist, but they are sold separately as add-ons; the demo site carries them off the main navigation.
Design and customisation notes
Iris is built on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine sections, so every layout is edited with the native drag and drop editor and site styles panel; there is no plugin or code to maintain. Big Cat Creative publishes reworked demos of the same template (Iris Bold, Iris Dark, Iris Neutral) to show how far the colours, fonts and imagery can be pushed, which I find a more honest demonstration of flexibility than a list of adjectives. Purchase includes delivery within 48 hours as a new site or an install into your existing 7.1 site, step by step video tutorials, a Squarespace resource library, editable Canva graphics, a copywriting workbook with AI prompts, an SEO checklist and a launch guide. Iris in particular is a bright, airy layout with rounded photo frames and a soft palette, and the neutral variant is the safest starting point if you want it to feel more corporate.
One honest caveat
Two portfolio layouts sounds generous, but you should pick one and delete the other before launch or you will have duplicate content with near-identical URLs. Also, all the demo copy is placeholder text, so the copywriting workbook is not optional; the template looks empty until you have written real service descriptions.
