Kalina

What Kalina is

Kalina is a Squarespace 7.1 Fluid Engine portfolio template by Studio Founded, a Squarespace Circle Platinum member. It has a spacious, editorial, almost architectural look and is aimed at portfolio led businesses, creatives and studios that sell services or project based work. The old listing on this page described Kalina as a four page personal CV and resume site; the real template is a full portfolio and studio site with fifteen page layouts including a shop, a sales page and two blog styles.

What it does

The demo includes home, about, services, two portfolio layouts, two journal layouts, a shop with product pages, a sales page, FAQs, contact, coming soon, Instagram links, site credits and a custom 404. On top of native Squarespace, Studio Founded adds custom coded features: interactive tabbed sections, split layouts, grid based sections, hover effects and multi font headings, each with tutorials. All demo imagery, fonts and layouts come with the template, and the sections are modular so you can build new pages from the same parts. The purchase includes the Kalina Template Guide (a Notion hub with strategy, SEO and setup tutorials), 30 days of priority email support, an extended 12 month Squarespace trial and 25 per cent off your first year on an annual plan.

Who it suits

Designers, photographers, architects, writers and small creative studios who want a case study driven site that leads visitors to an enquiry, and who might later add a journal, digital products or a sales page for a course or offer. I would put it on a shortlist for anyone whose work needs room to breathe on the page.

One honest caveat

It is not a shop first template. Product pages are included, but if ecommerce is the point of the site Studio Founded themselves point you to their Luchia template instead. The custom coded split layouts and tabs also feel unfamiliar at first, and they will not work on the Squarespace Basic plan, so you are committed to Core or above from launch.

Setup

After purchase you receive a contributor invitation by email within 48 hours, which installs the template as a new site in your Squarespace account on an extended trial. To publish you need a Core, Plus or Advanced plan; the custom code is not compatible with Basic. If you already have a live site and want to keep its subscription and SEO history, Studio Founded offer an Install Package at checkout to place the pages inside your existing site. Payment plans are available and the licence is for one site.
