Leon Squarespace 7.1 Template

Who Leon is built for

Leon is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Big Cat Creative that mixes a retro twist with a modern layout, aimed at small businesses, service providers, coaches, bloggers and creatives who want a site that feels playful but still professional. The demo is written as a copywriting studio ("we'll work together to create copy you love"), which is a good hint at the intended buyer: a solo creative or a two-person studio selling services with a few showcase projects. The old listing framed Leon as a minimalist portfolio for artists and designers; it is warmer, busier and more service-led than that.

The pages and sections you get

The seven pages are Home, About, Services, Info, Portfolio, Blog and Contact. The home page runs a welcome hero, an explore section, a statement block, featured work, a testimonial, a supporting text block, a recent posts summary, a gallery and a freebie newsletter signup. Services lists three services with featured work, a testimonial and a personal introduction; Info is a single-offer page with what's included, a process and featured work; Portfolio is a project index and the Blog works out of the box. There is no shop in the base build. Matching shop, sales page, podcast, freebie and link page layouts exist, but they are sold separately as add-ons; the demo site carries them off the main navigation.

Design and customisation notes

Leon is built on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine sections, so every layout is edited with the native drag and drop editor and site styles panel; there is no plugin or code to maintain. Big Cat Creative publishes reworked demos of the same template (Leon Bold, Leon Classic, Leon Dark) to show how far the colours, fonts and imagery can be pushed, which I find a more honest demonstration of flexibility than a list of adjectives. Purchase includes delivery within 48 hours as a new site or an install into your existing 7.1 site, step by step video tutorials, a Squarespace resource library, editable Canva graphics, a copywriting workbook with AI prompts, an SEO checklist and a launch guide. Leon uses chunky retro display type, warm colour blocks and rounded frames; the Classic and Dark variants show it as a more restrained studio site and as a moodier one.

One honest caveat

The demo's footer newsletter block shows Squarespace's own warning that it needs a storage option, which is a useful reminder: every signup form in this template must be connected to Campaigns or a mailing list before launch or it silently does nothing. The retro typography is also a commitment; swap the fonts and the template loses most of its character.
