Macie

Macie is a Squarespace 7.1 template by The Creative Motif, sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for working artists who sell commissions and license their work. The demo is a watercolour artist on the Gulf Coast: an in-bloom collection hero, a meet-Macie introduction, a studio news strip and a navigate-and-get-in-touch footer, with a Portfolio page presenting the current collection and a never-miss-a-drop sign-up, a Commissions page listing wedding portraits, event invitations and house portraits with investment details, a four-step process, client reviews, FAQ accordions and an enquiry form, an About page with licensing clients, and a Contact page with where-to-shop stockists. The old listing pitched it at photographers and designers on four pages; the demo is a five-page painter's site built around commissions and licensing.

Who it suits

Painters, illustrators, calligraphers, printmakers and surface pattern designers who take commissions, license art to brands and sell through stockists. With new imagery a ceramicist or a textile artist would fit too. Photographers can use it, but it lacks client galleries and proofing.

Honest limits

There is no shop: prints and originals are sold through the stockists listed on Contact, so to sell directly you add Squarespace commerce on a plan that supports it. Commission enquiries come through a form; there is no scheduling or deposit payment without Acuity, Calendly or a payment link. One collection page means older collections need new pages or a gallery collection. The About page still carries placeholder quote text. The scroll effects are SquareKicker features that stay in place after the 30-day trial but need a subscription to keep editing.

How it is delivered

SquareKicker templates install through the SquareKicker Template Engine onto a new or existing Squarespace 7.1 site: connect the free SquareKicker extension, pick the template and it installs in a few clicks, with the choice of keeping your existing site styles or replacing them with the template's. There is no duplicate site to copy from. The purchase is one-off and includes a 30-day SquareKicker extension trial; you need a Squarespace Core plan or higher to publish, and SquareKicker template buyers get 10 per cent off a Squarespace plan.
