Radian is one of Squarespace's own free 7.1 templates, and the demo is an architecture and spatial design practice rather than the generic consultancy some older listings described. The home page is a single long scroll: a bold opening statement, three featured projects, an explore strip, a client list arranged by year, a "let's build" invitation with a contact form, and a footer that doubles as the about section with services, locations and recognition. Three project pages sit behind the featured tiles. The palette is near-white and black with a pale grey accent, set in Helvetica Neue throughout.
What you get
- A one-page home layout with the navigation reduced to a single Contact button that jumps to the form
- Three project pages (The Cultural Center, Greenspacing and The Float House in the demo), each with a year, a location, a short write-up and a run of numbered images
- A clients section grouped by year, which works equally well for awards, press or exhibitions
- Alternating light and black section themes that give the long page rhythm without extra design work
- Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine, so every section is drag and drop in the standard editor
- Free to use: pick it on squarespace.com, start a trial and the demo content is yours to replace
Who it suits
Architects, interior and spatial designers, landscape studios and small design practices whose site needs to do three things: state a point of view, show a few projects well and take an enquiry. It also suits an engineer, set designer or fabrication studio with project-led work. If you want a spare, confident site with very little copy, this is the right shape.
Honest limits
There is no separate about, services or team page; that information lives in the footer, so a practice that needs to explain its process at length will be adding pages. There is no blog, shop or booking page in the demo, and the project pages are ordinary pages rather than a portfolio collection, so each new project is a duplicate-and-edit job. The black and white palette is much of the character, and the layout leans on strong photography; with weak images it looks empty rather than minimal.
How it is delivered
Radian is a Squarespace starting point, not a purchase. Open it on squarespace.com, choose "start with this design" and Squarespace creates a trial site with the demo content in place. Swap the text, images and the placeholder client names, then choose a plan when you are ready to publish; a Personal plan covers everything in the demo.
