Reseda is one of Squarespace's own free 7.1 templates, and the demo is a Los Angeles photographer's site: an introduction to the photographer, a services teaser, three collections previewed on the home page with links into the gallery, and a newsletter sign-up at the foot of every page. Headings are set in Pragmatica Extended and body copy in Courier, a monospace face, on an off-white background with charcoal type, so it reads more like a printed contact sheet than a glossy portfolio.
What you get
- Four pages in the navigation: Home, Services, Gallery and Information
- A Services page with four session packages (Standard, Deluxe, Professional and Elite in the demo), each listing session length, wardrobe changes, retouching and delivery time with a purchase button
- A hidden Store collection behind those buttons, so packages are sold as Squarespace products rather than enquiries
- A Gallery page of full-size images, and collection previews on the home page with "view full gallery" links
- An Information page with a short biography and a contact form, plus a newsletter block on every page
- Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine, so every section is drag and drop in the standard editor
Who it suits
Portrait, fashion and editorial photographers who sell fixed-price sessions and want to take payment on the site, and photographers or cinematographers who want a spare, typographic portfolio with a few curated collections rather than hundreds of images. The monospace body type gives it an art-school feel that suits an art director or filmmaker too.
Honest limits
Selling the packages needs a Commerce plan, or a Business plan with transaction fees; on a Personal plan the purchase buttons will have to become enquiry links. There is no blog, no client proofing or private galleries, and no booking calendar, so scheduling sessions means adding Acuity or a link to your own tool. The Courier body type is a strong choice that will not suit every brand, and changing it is a two-minute job in site styles. Squarespace's demo copy is placeholder throughout, including the photographer's name.
How it is delivered
Reseda is a Squarespace starting point, not a purchase. Open it on squarespace.com, choose "start with this design" and Squarespace creates a trial site with the demo pages, packages and galleries in place. Replace the images and copy, connect a storage option to the newsletter block, and pick a plan when you are ready to publish.
