Retrograde is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Studio Mesa, built, as the designer puts it, for the nonprofit that operates more like a campaign. Press features, partner logos, a get-involved page and a donate flow are the spine of the demo, alongside events, a schedule, articles and a small store.

Who it suits

Advocacy organisations, campaigns and movement-style nonprofits whose credibility comes from press coverage and partners as much as from programmes. It also suits a charity running a time-limited appeal that needs a get-involved path (volunteer, share, give) rather than a service directory. The corporate and vintage styling gives it a more editorial feel than Venture.

One honest caveat

The campaign shape is the trade-off: an organisation delivering long-running services will find the structure pushes visitors towards actions rather than information, and may prefer Venture. Donations use Squarespace's donation block (Core plan or higher, or Business or Commerce on older plans; Stripe or PayPal connected) and the store needs a Commerce plan. There is no Gift Aid handling built in.

What is included

The demo shows Home, About, Approach, Get Involved, Donate, Events, Schedule, Articles, Press, Store, FAQ and Contact, plus legal and 404 pages. Sections include a hero, mission statement, press features, partner logos, events, an articles summary, donate calls to action and a newsletter sign-up. Studio Mesa deliver instantly to your Squarespace account with lifetime email support and a seven-day refund window.
