Roam Around is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Nikki Butler of Lit Path Co., sold through the SquareKicker template store, built for travel bloggers who want a personal site with a journal and a resources page. The demo is a solo traveller called Sara: a time-to-roam hero, an explore-the-world intro, latest blog posts, favourite locations, a follow-along social strip and a get-in-touch form, with an About page, a blog called The Journey (Italian sea, Mexican beach, a German village, Kyoto), a Travel Resources page of packing tips and hacks, Contact, Privacy Policy and a custom 404. The old listing called it a photographer's portfolio with a Portfolio page, which it is not: there is no portfolio page and the site is a travel blog.

What you get

  • Seven page layouts: Home, About, The Journey (blog), Travel Resources, Contact, Privacy Policy and Custom 404, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine
  • A blog summary section on the home page and a full blog page for trip write-ups
  • A Travel Resources layout for tips, packing lists and affiliate recommendations
  • A favourite-locations gallery, a social strip, a people section and a newsletter block in the footer
  • An orange, peach, dark grey and white palette that changes in the Squarespace style editor
  • A one-off purchase with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial

Who it suits

Travel bloggers, digital nomads and solo adventurers who write trip posts and want a resources page for gear and tips. With the copy changed it works for a food blogger, a hiking writer or any personal-brand journal that is mostly blog and gallery.

Honest limits

It is a blog first: there is no shop, no course page and no booking. Affiliate income means adding your own links to the Resources page. The vendor page lists no SquareKicker animations for this template, so the movement you see in other SquareKicker demos is absent here, which also means less to maintain. The newsletter block needs a storage destination before it works. A blogger with hundreds of posts should check the Squarespace blog list layout suits them, because that is where most of the site will live.

How it is delivered

SquareKicker templates install through the SquareKicker Template Engine onto a new or existing Squarespace 7.1 site: connect the free SquareKicker extension, pick the template and it installs in a few clicks, with the choice of keeping your existing site styles or replacing them with the template's. There is no duplicate site to copy from. The purchase is one-off and includes a 30-day SquareKicker extension trial; you need a Squarespace Core plan or higher to publish, and SquareKicker template buyers get 10 per cent off a Squarespace plan.

FAQs

FAQs

Who is Roam Around designed for?
Nikki Butler of Lit Path Co. built it for travel bloggers. The demo is a solo traveller with a blog called The Journey, a Travel Resources page, an about page and a contact form.
What pages are included?
Seven layouts: Home, About, The Journey (blog), Travel Resources, Contact, Privacy Policy and Custom 404, on Squarespace 7.1 with Fluid Engine.
Is there a portfolio page?
No. The old listing said so, but the demo has a blog and a favourite-locations gallery, not a portfolio page. Add a Squarespace gallery or portfolio page if you need one.
Can I monetise the site?
Yes, in the ways a blog can: add affiliate links to the Resources page, embed ads, or add Squarespace commerce for a shop. None of that is set up in the template.
Do I need a SquareKicker subscription to use the template?
No. The template is a one-off purchase and it comes with a free 30-day SquareKicker extension trial. The vendor lists no SquareKicker animations for this template, so once installed the styling stays on the site and you edit it with the normal Squarespace tools; a subscription is only needed if you want the extension's design tools after the trial. You do need a Squarespace Core plan or higher to publish.
How is the template installed?
Through the SquareKicker Template Engine onto a new or existing Squarespace 7.1 site, in a few clicks, keeping or replacing your existing site styles.
