What it is
The Starter Template for Web Designers is a copy of Christy Price's own Squarespace starter site, delivered into your Squarespace account with a professional licence for unlimited client use. The idea is simple: stop rebuilding the same foundation every time you start a new project, and begin each build from a site that already has the boring parts done.
Christy has worked as a web designer for more than 20 years and has built hundreds of custom sites, so this is the base she refined on real client work rather than a theme designed to look good in a demo.
What is already set up
The template comes with Christy's preferred site spacing and site styles already configured, client offboarding pages, a style guide and a handful of other pages and settings she uses on every project. It is a foundation rather than a finished design, so you still bring the look; what you skip is the hour or two of setup at the start of each build.
The eight lessons
A short course comes with it: a tour of the template, what happens while your copy is on its way, how to handle the Squarespace website trial, making the template your own, extra custom CSS you may want to include, and a note on permissions and ownership. The last two lessons are a thank you and pointers to Christy's other resources, so expect around six lessons of real content.
Who it suits
Squarespace designers who build several sites a year and have not yet created their own starter site. It also suits newer designers who want to see how an experienced designer sets up spacing, styles and handover pages before they make their own decisions.
Price, licence and delivery
It costs $97 as a one-time purchase, with a professional licence for unlimited use on client projects. The template is shared to your Squarespace account by email within three days of purchase, and usually faster. A password-protected demo site is linked from the course page so you can tour it before you buy.
Where it falls short
Delivery is not instant, so buy it before a project starts rather than on the morning you need it. The sales page does not spell out the licence terms beyond unlimited use; those sit in the permissions lesson after purchase. And if you already have a starter site you are happy with, the main benefit here is seeing how someone else does it, which may not be worth $97.
