What Unearth is

Unearth is a Squarespace 7.1 template by Big Cat Creative that the vendor describes as modern and artistic with an interactive collage-style layout: overlapping images, offset text and hover states rather than a strict grid. The old listing on this site described it as a photography template with four pages. It is not. The demo is a small creative studio selling Instagram strategy, Pinterest management and brand design, and Big Cat Creative lists small businesses, service providers, artists, bloggers and creatives as the audience. The vendor lists seven pages and the demo confirms them.

The pages and sections you get

The seven pages are Home, About, Services, Info, Portfolio, Blog and Contact, with Contact reached from a Get in touch button in the header. The home page runs a hero, a what-we-do intro, three service tiles, a get-to-know-us block, a testimonial, four project tiles with hover labels, a free brand guideline opt-in and an Instagram strip. Services lists the three offers, each with a this-is-for-you-if list, what's included and a timeline, and Info is the single-service detail page with deliverables, testimonials, a five-step process, latest work and an FAQ. About carries the motto, the team and a fun facts strip, Portfolio is a grid of six projects, Contact pairs an enquiry form with testimonials and the freebie sign-up, and the Blog is set up with Design, Branding, Social Media and Marketing categories.

Who it suits

I would put Unearth in front of a social media manager, brand designer, illustrator or small creative agency that wants the site to feel like a mood board rather than a brochure. The Services and Info pairing gives you one page to list packages and one page to sell a single package in depth, which is the structure most small studios actually need.

One honest caveat

The collage layout is the point of the template, and it is also the thing that will fall apart if you swap in weak imagery or a very different aspect ratio, so budget time for photography or graphics. There is no shop in the base build, the freebie opt-in is a newsletter block that needs a storage connection, and the project tiles link to summary pages rather than full case studies, so plan on writing those yourself.

Unearth is native Squarespace 7.1 Fluid Engine, edited with the standard editor and site styles panel, with no code to maintain. Big Cat Creative publishes three reworked demos (Unearth Bold, Unearth Dark and Unearth Neutral) that show the same layout with different colours, fonts and imagery, and there are customer sites in its showcase. Purchase includes delivery within 48 hours as a new site or an install into your existing 7.1 site, step by step video tutorials, a prep and branding guide, a copywriting workbook, editable Canva graphics, an SEO checklist and launch guide, and email support. The vendor recommends the Core plan because some of its templates use custom CSS.
